Processors. If only...

Go to YouTube and do a search for firewood processors at work. If only they didn't cost SO much. :bash:

Yep, looked real close at the skid steer mounted one, $35K is a bit much though.

Getting my uncles tuned back up now, need to replace a few toggle switches, a limit switch, and several cords. He let it sit so long under a tarp the d*mn pineys had there way with several things. Is a Woodeze btw, used to be a video on Youtube of one in action, once I get this one back up and running I'll have the wife shoot some video.

In this you can see the movable jaw that locks the log in place both for cutting and dragging it in for the next cut. Flip the ramp on the right down for dragging a tree in wit the hydraulic powered winch, flip the chute over on the left and it connects to an ear corn elevator I modified. Can't see it in the picture but the right side tire is on a hydraulic cylinder so you can adjust the angle of the processor to match the log. I've ran 70 foot tulip poplars thru it in the past.

Below and to the left of the jaw/clamp is a limit switch I added. set the length you want to cut and the jaw releases the log when it trips. Want 16" long pieces, set it at sixteen, want 18" pieces, move the trip a few inches.

Hydraulic powered 28" bar, running 404 semi chisel chain, 63 gauge. It will snap lighter chains quite often. The valve wit the black knob is for right rear tire. Directly behind that is the rotary action hydraulic valve for controlling the bar, on that is a handle with three switches. Two toggles, one for controlling the splitter and the other for the jaw, third is a momentary on pushbutton for the chainsaw, a 12 volt piston type fuel pump is connected in the chainsaw circuit for supplying bar oil to the chain, early units were gravity fed from a tank mounted higher than the bar, pump works much better once I built a oil warmer to warm the bar oil.

Took a piece of 1 1/2" pipe 12 inches long, then a 48" piece of 1/4" brake line and coiled that up inside the pipe, welded the ends shut then added fittings for the return line on the processor, warm hydraulic oil from the processor heats the bar oil which makes it pump much easier. Also added a 12 volt cooling fan from a junk yard car to the oil cooler on the processor, the fan is controlled by a snap disc.

Finally got it up and running today, unfortunately the weather is quickly turning everything to slop. Was hoping to have everything I have down run thru by now but lost four days last week, a day of doctors appointments, then the wife was in the hospital for 2 days with a new AICD then another day taking care of her once I got her home.

Anyways, filled this truck today in a little less than 2 1/2 hours, that included taking care of a few more bugs and carrying each log/tree over to the processor with the grapple on the skid steer as it already got too sloppy to get the processor to where I had the trees. Left the truck on the side of the road and ran the elevator thru the fencerow.

I've seen maybe two of the Wood-eze processors for sale of the years, one was in one of the Carolinas for $4500 and the other was in California for $8000. Today I ran it with an Oliver 1755 diesel, I removed the interlock pin so I can install the 540 rpm PTO stub but shift the selector into the 1000 rpm setting then run the tractor at half throttle all day and still have plenty of flow. A 1755 has around 86 pto hp, I've ran this processor with a Super 88 before which has around 52 pto hp, the saw on the processor will make the Super 88 blow some coal. My uncle tried to run the processor with a Ford 8N, pretty much just killed it dead outright.

Looking for some help to troubleshoot these processors. Does anyone have a manual and/or schematic?

I have a manual, but don’t recall a schematic at all of the wiring.

What is or isn’t your’s doing? I’ve completely rewired ours in the past and it really isn’t that difficult. Most problems electrically I’ve found is either a faulty toggle switch or one of the limit switches is out of adjustment or bad.
