Let me cut to the chase, in a true apple to apple comparison how much less wood will the bl series use compared to my Hawken, which is very similar in design to a conventional wood doctor. Then one step further how much less will the optimizer use compared to the bl series. Also, is this the last year for the bl's if the epa rules hold true?

  Woodman, allow me to attempt to answer that question regarding wood consumption differences betwwen my old Wood Doctor 1400 X-Large unit and the B-L series and Optimizer 250.  It all has to do with stack temps, My old WD has a stack temp when running hard of around 1000-1200 degrees, the B-L series runs around 550 degrees and the 250 runs around 260 degrees, I'm not sure what the fuel reduction will be but I would put money on a bet that the B-L will save 20-25% and the 250 around 40% over the conventional Wood Doctor.  As far as how long we will be allowed to produce the B-L, nobody really knows, most guys that are running them say that they believe the B-L would pass phase 2, that may be a stretch but I know they burn a heck of a lot cleaner than my old conventional WD, I hope this helps.

woodsman im not an expert by any means but I have a optimizer 250 I bought last sept. have been heating my house for years primarly with wood and a little oil. I have 150 year old house 9 rooms. in the past few years I would burn about 6 cords and 150 gal of oil.at the coldest time of year would have 2 stove running and oil to heat back rooms.from sept until today I have burned about 8 cords NO oil. and my house has never been warmer. I am a total believer. hope this helps (I may be a homer on this)LOL
