opinion needed on best way to fix pipe
« on: October 04, 2015, 06:25:33 AM »

Hello all,  I am wanting opinions on how to join two sections of this pipe together.  My water lines run through this pipe into my workshop and I had to take it apart to run new lines.  I need to attach two sections of this pipe and the joint will be slightly underground.  They made a rubber membrane adhesive wrap at one time to wrap the joint but I do not know if they are still available.  Any opinions on best way to attach these together.

What kind of pipe is that?  I'm not really sure what that is or what the diameter of the inside pipe is.  It kind of looks like PVC?

it is pvc pipe in another pipe with foam insulation between the two pipes.  I do not know the brand.  It was put in when my stove was installed about 9-10 yrs. ago.

Could you bring your connection above ground?  If that can't be done, perhaps some bitch o thane  rubber roof membrane would work, it has a very sticky backing that should seal well, is it closed cell foam?

I cannot bring above ground.  The roof membrane would work but you have to buy a large quantity.

could you go to a supply house that sells heat shrink for  pipes and slid that on, make your glued repairs to the pvc and insulation and then use a heat shrink to make your fix water tight?

That looks like it might be Insul-Seal pipe. You could try asking them what they suggest. http://www.insulseal.com/
