General Outdoor Furnace Discussion / Over heating problemW
« on: March 25, 2012, 09:12:17 PM »
We have been gone all weekend, I had put in enough wood to have a fire going for just heating the water to make it till Sat. night or Sun. morning. Well we didn't get home till 8 o'clock this evening and my fire was out, so I made fire real quick and got it going pretty good and looked at my site tube and it is very low on water my pump has been running all weekend.
Well I looked all around no leaks and finally looked  in the back and below one of the shutoff valve's is a little puddle and I wiped my hand under it and got a wet hand. My question is do I fill a pretty low boiler that is at 155 degrees with cold water or not??? I do have quite a bit wood in it to get it hot

Same here.  It has been close to zero the last couple of nights and I have been getting 15-16 hrs. easily. If I  was always home to stir and let coals burn down I could probably get 3-4 more hrs. out of it. That is heating 3500 sq.ft of house to 70 while home and 68 when we aren't, 1200 sq. ft garage at 60. 2-50gal. water heaters and a 500 gal. Hot Tub  So far (knock on wood) haven't had any trouble with boiler, did have to replace air to water hx 2wks ago. It lasted 6 yrs.  So for not being a major brand this Legend has been great!!!!

My heat exchanger started leakin this a.m. I bypassed it. It has lasted 5+yrs. So I guess I'll order a replacement tomorrow. is this a better idea to replace than to try to fix????

My batteries have been  in since Thanksgiving. Last heating season I went through 2 sets of batteries from Oct-Jun. Duracell.
