Title: Blower shutting off and back on. E2 flashs

I have an older CS 4000 which was installed by previous owner of home.  I have use for the last 5 yrs.

Today I notice that the blower was running about 2 min then turning off.  It will kick back on within 3 min and run for another 2 -3.  So off and on.

Temp is set to 170 drop 10 deg but control panel say temp is 140 so it should be blowing.

The control panel flash E2 which I understand means it has forgot it settings.  I assume I have an issue with the control panel and needs to be replace.

Since this is an older model I am not sure where I need to get the part.  Control board in it has been replace once the pervious owner has told me but I do not know if they had dealer order the part.  It say it is a Ranco Electric Temp Control anyone know if this was the control panel from heatmaster or did owner put an replacement in that just worked.

Need to get it fixed Missouri temp this time of the year is up then down.  60 today but 30s the rest of the week.

Sounds like the controller that came on it from Heatmaster.

That's a common Ranco temp control and is what was on it from the factory. E2 means the board in it is bad and it needs to be replaced. Any dealer would have it or search 'Ranco temp control' and numerous online vendors will have it.
Swap it out one wire at a time, it's pretty simple.

If yours is one of the models that has the temp control up front above the firebox door be sure to keep the cover over the control closed when opening the firebox door. The heat can cause the board to go bad.

That is what I kind of thought.  If anyone has the part number or specs I could get one at a local Grainger store on my way home tonight.  Else I will have to get into it tonight find part number and then replace tomorrow.

ETC-111000-000 Single Stage ETC Temperature Control w/ 8' Sensor, 120/240V Input

It comes in cooling mode at 70 F I think. So you'll need to change the settings.

Just reporting back.  I got the new sensor installed and everything is working fine.

Side note, wiring the sensor was a little difficult with my big hands.  Wish they turned the connections perpendicular to board but I guess they wanted them in line with the hole in bottom

I just wired a Ranco up the other day, thinking these big screws sure are nice compared to the ones I’ve been playing around with.
