General Outdoor Furnace Discussion / aquatherm. 345 eco one
« on: May 17, 2014, 09:40:05 PM »
Does any one know any thing about a 345 aqua thermstove? Found a good used one but I want to burn lignite coal in it but not sure if it will handle it. Looks like ithas grates in the bottom and air comes from underneath as well as on top. I think it is sme sort of gasification system.   It is also a stainles steel model which I know nothing about. I have a p and main ml 30 with shakers and it burns this lignite coal pretty well but looking for another stove for the shop but dont want to spring for a new one. Slim jim you know anything about a aquatherm?  I talked to you previosly about this coal in the ml30. I dont think this coal gets near as hot as the better coals. I think it only has a btu rating of around 7500 which I think is comparible to wood. Any how any knowledge is appreciated.

General Outdoor Furnace Discussion / Return temps
« on: January 01, 2014, 10:23:52 AM »
What should my return temps be? I hav 170s coming into the house and 135 going out. Seems as though the blower fan is runnin a lot longer than it did last year . System is only on its second season.  Could pump be getting weak? It has about 150 feet uphill push then when it gets in the house 50 ft to the waterheater then 50 ft to the furnace then  back to the stove. With wathing the temp guage when the blower quits it takes a long time for heat to come back up on return.  It has been Really cold here in sd

Portage & Main / burning coal in a ml 30 w/shakers
« on: November 03, 2013, 12:59:38 PM »
Got an ml 30 w/shakers, I have been burning exclusivly lignite coal for 3 weeks now. It has been burning very well although it has not been real cold yet. Is there any risks or tricks to burning coal.   I have read in other posts that coal gasses are very explosive and i think this might be true as have had a couple of small booms and  belches of smoke come out of the stack. Is this normal? I don't want a bomb in my yard. Is there any way to avoid, scares the hell out of you to think it might blow up. I was wandering if I left the draft door open slightly on the door it might help. Anyone else got any expierence with this. Any other tips would be helpful.
