I am also seeing a lot of creosote on inside , its warm again so it will idle next 2-3 days , can some one describe the the steps so i can burn mine out , ill try and get a video of it

Collect a firebox full of card board, open bottom door to turn canon and let it roar til the paper burns up, it should make a super hot intense fire that burns the creosote off

Scott, about how many 12x12 boxes do you burn?

Its a loop pump for zone valves on my oil burner. Not the OWB.

Yep!

Just have to get around and buy the stat. I'm going on vacation next month and leaving my teen son in charge of the OWB and want some peace of mind.

My oil boiler aquastat [Honeywell L8148A] is not turning on my circulators, I think the circuit board has a bad solder joint. I need to pull it out and repair/replace it.

A Honeywell 1018-6006C strap on aquastat can be used on the incoming wood boiler line, (copper or black iron ) to interupt B-1, simply install the aquastat on the incoming wood boiler line, set it at about 160 degrees, attatch two wires to the R+B terminals on the aquastat and run them down and interupt the B-1 wire, this kills the burner above the setpoint on the aquastat and when the wood boiler temp drops below setpoint of the aquastat the oil/gas burner returns to normal.

Thanks for the clear description of how to do this, I just been pulling B1 to kill the burner but wanted to have a oil burner backup!

Would love to see how you have this hooked up. Pictures?

It is an unbeatable price, I just ordered one to pick up also, thanks! My Jonsereds is almost 12 and it is pretty beat up.

Glad to see I got your first post!

if you can do store pick up, do it!

I just bought a Husqvarna 455 rancher for $199 at Sears.
I was in the store to pick up a 240 for $109 but when I seen the 455 I had to have it instead!
Here is the link to it online:

Good luck!

Probably the wrong forum but this one gets the most traffic!

Would like to know more about the solar panels, is that for summer DHW? Power for the Boiler?
Very nice set up you have there!

The solar panels are for heating the water during the summer. That gives me DHW without firing the boiler, at least in theory. I'm still working out the reality.

Do you heat the boiler water with the solar panels?
Can you explain your setup?

Boilermate runs off its own T-stat, not 24/7.
So you think just tapping the return and running it thru the HX and back into the boiler would work?
Do you think that Taco pump is ok to circulate and run all zones? I have a 2000sqft ranch.

Would like to know how you guys would hook this up?
I have a Taco 007 f4 pump that is on the return side of the oil boiler that circulates the 4 zones.
I also have a Boilermate for my DHW that has its own pump and is tied into the return below the Taco pump.

My plans were to tie into the return below the Taco pump and tee into the supply side on top of the boiler and run the Taco 24/7 to circulate thru the HX. Would this work? How would you wire the pump to do this and still have oil backup?

I know everybody's hookup is different but for some reason I cannot figure this one out, either that or I'm too cheap and don't want to buy and run another pump! But if it means a more efficient system than so be it.

Was talking to Willie about this in PM's.

Sorry about the hijacked thread D-man!

Portage & Main / Steve in OHIO install ML36
« on: November 09, 2012, 10:19:30 PM »
Thought I might share my OWB install.

I bought a 2009 never fired ML36 from Rory at Portage and Main, it had been sitting in Erie Pa. for the last few years.

I started prepping my site back in august by scrapping all the topsoil at the edge of my driveway and digging the trench to where the ML36 will sit. 35 ton of asphalt grindings later my site was level with my drive so all I had to do is walk out my garage and fill the stove.

Logstor going into the basement.

Finished grade and waiting for concrete pad 11'6'' x 22' with a 11'6'' x 32 woodshed on top of it. 9' has a half roof by the stove.

Present with the woodshed and boiler sitting on pad.

My present day money magnet, oil boiler going thru 900 gallons a year!
Has a boilermate for the hot water.
Still scratching my head with the final plumbing. Ran some struts to hang the copper pipe and HX
Logstor to copper pipe to 50 plate heat exchanger.
