damper door fix?
« on: October 14, 2014, 08:00:58 PM »

Ok many of you know I had a few boil overs, I talked to Craig from Ridgewood we both agree that the damper door needed a touch more weight.  This is what I did I hope it's enough.  It's a one hole emt strap 3/4 inch.  Please let me know what you guys think.  Thanks. Ted

I hope so, when. I did get stuck a few times I swear it didn't take much to have it close.   I didn't wanna start welding and make something permanent right away.  Thanks

The door looks to be heavy enough on it's own tbph.

Of course we used to have a corn dryer that had an electro mechanical timer, it'd stick right at the point where it shuts the fans off and start dumping the dry grain, it would shut the fans off but not start the next step, most of the time just grabbing the handle on the control panel door would be enough to trip it, frustrating at best.

ffbare.........if that's not enough you might find some magnets and throw one, two or so on there to test it out. Then make a permanent weight.

I was thinking that so far I have not had any issues I did burn up a solenoid so I need so order a back up or two. The only reason I didn't add more weight to start is because when I barely touched it the door did drop.  I don't know.

If the strap isn't enough you could always get a bolt that threaded the whole length and put it in so the threaded part is out then keep threading nuts down on it.

I welded a threaded rod across the bottom of the flap letting it stick out on each side about an inch or so and threaded a couple nuts on each end. if I needed more which I didn't I could just thread a couple more nuts on it.
