Title: anyone burning coal in a shaver 165?

Bought a truck load of coal last week befor the  bad cold snap came through ohio. anyone else burning it in there shaver.

What size did you buy. My buddy burns it in his shaver sometimes. He bought a couple tons of bagged buck. He has a hard time keeping it up in the firebox though because of the small size of it. He would have been much better off with atleast one size up.

baseball up too basketball size and every thing between.The place where I got it called it kentucy lump.burns real nice,but I didn't load it down just 5 or 6 chunks with a load of wood.

Door, I burned coal last year with good results and am located in Ohio as well. If you don't mind me asking,  where did you buy the coal?

I'm in Columbia co ohio,not very many places to get coal around here anymore,bought it from hoopes ferdilizer on rt 30 between east rodchester and Minerva. 178 a ton.

I'm in western pa tried some mine run didn't work out at all was way to fine burned really hot and fast then nothing water temps would drop way to low will try some nut coal next and see how that works out

My buddy burns rice in his although he should really use buck or nut. The rice is to small and can fall down between the grates. He puts in two logs and a 50 pound bag ontop of that. He goes 30 hours in that.

yes, I am burning ohio bit coal exclusivly , i am out of wood..  my shaver 290 has never been happier with 50 of 60 lbs of coal. I am getting 16 hour burn times although i dont let it, i refule at 12hrs , and my temps have never been better,  I am pleased with my coal results

What size coal are you burning? is it bulk or in bags
