lugnut..... is this OWB your first experience at burning wood to heat your house?  these things do seem to like to consume wood and if you are new to burning ,,,,,well it might seem like a lot of wood. i have been burning since 9/7-till now have burnt 4&1/2 cords. my lines are homemade also and with no draw for heat i loose about 1* in around 300 ft round trip, buried at 2ft and it will melt snow . you can probably bury the same lines deeper and not melt snow but heat loss would be the same .
if my heat loss ever increases i will re dig the 65 ft that is buried an sleeve that section to protect against dampness.

why did you mount the new blower in a different position then what it was designed for. by doing this you changed how the solenoid works, i believe yours pulls in?

that will work great . let it hang down about where your pump is. make a flange on top so it dosen't drop through. mine goes through the top by my hwc. seal that top plate and all holes where the coil lines come through it and your water evaporation will (should) be near zero.

i have been using a draft control on my shaver like this ,on the 2nd season now, and it works great. and no solenoid to mess with. mine is made of 4in. pvc with 45* turn down with a tin flapper inside it's self, soldered to a 1/8th piece of rod that is completely through the 4". i have this glued to the intake side of the blower . when the blower kicks on the suction opens the flapper wide open, and when the blower shuts down the flapper closes.. very simple, and very simple to make. by using a tin can lid for the flapper i was able to attach a small magnet to the bottom edge of the flapper it to get it to pivot closed fast. with the right weight on it, it stays shut ,even on the windiest of days.

glad to hear things are working out. if you install the ranco , make sure the probe is in a dry well. you can make one out of a piece of 3/8 copper tubing. just flatten and fold the bottom end to seal it off. suspend it down along side your hot water coil down to your pump fitting. fasten it so it doesn't fall down.

i live in the woods also and my concern was sparks to, but i haven't seen any this season. i think after a couple good firings you'll be ok.

that brush will be a pain in rear. once you get your auto damper on and running you will see a big differance in your stack build up and that stove will turn into a whole new critter.

silicone is fine for where the blower mounts to the flange ,,there is no heat there, no special gasket needed.

LUGNUT  i suggest you check this link out and read every post pertaining to the shaver.  it sounds like you need help   http://www.arboristsite.com/firewood-heating-wood-burning-equipment/81190.htm

if i had it to do all over again i would still get the same unit ,Shaver165.  after i did the modifications this unit works great. it takes care of heating the house 72*, garage 70*,hot tub 104* & hot water130*-135*, 24/7. my longest run is 165ft. one direction and go through about 13-14 cords a year. i don't think that is a lot of wood considering what is heated
in my area i see Central boiler and Hardy and they don't heat any better then the Shaver, they just cost more.
this will be my 2nd year of service and you do need to do all the modifications that are known to help and forget about rope for a door seal, silicone works just fine, just don't crush it to much, and if the door still leaks it needs more silicone in those spots.

i think you are doing ok with those figures
i think so to,,,, eastern ohio
