Air in lines
« on: February 12, 2011, 02:17:50 PM »

About two weeks ago, my low water light came on.  I added water and less than five gallons of water topped it off.  No problems until two days ago.  I was not getting heat out of the vents.  I checked and the top of the coil was hot, but nothing else.  By cycling the pump off and on with some wait time in between, I was able to get heat again.  Now today, no heat again.  Same problem, same fix.
Any ideas why air could be in the lines?  Back in October (I think it was) the unit was replaced under warranty.  Same pump and controls though.  Up unitil a couple days ago, no problem whatsoever.
Any thoughts beside mine would be of help.  Thanks!

if you ran circ pump dry you might have smoked the seals . pulling air into system.

I know the pump didn't run dry from the low water.  It took less then five gallons to top it off.  Where are the seals?  Internal?  It is a Taco pump but I forget which model.

yes internal. where the electric motor meets the pump side. can pull air in even though no water leaks out.

I am not sure what you mean here "I checked and the top of the coil was hot, but nothing else. " could you clear this up for me?
Thanks
