Title: Smoke bypass
Post by: deew2525 on January 21, 2018, 02:08:25 PM
I have a G200 with the siemens controller. With the door open and the smoke bypass lever pulled I have 5 minutes to have door open before the bypass fan cuts off. Is it possible to increase the 5 min timer as sometimes it takes me longer to dig around the ashes & fully load the firebox. I have tried to find the setting for this timer in the siemens controller but was unsuccessful.  Also I know I am listed as a newbie but I heated my home with a Hardy H2 for over 16 years. I still can't believe how well the G200 performs and NO SMOKE. Thanks for any help.

Just close it then reopen and it will run for another five minutes.

Yeah that's what I been doing...... if timer not adjustable I guess I'll keep on doing it that way

I have been wondering the same thing I could use a few more minutes. Yeah the no smoke thing is amazing I am still wowed by it a year later.

Because it's a safety item I don't believe it is adjustable. Just closed it and reopen it. I try and get my wheelbarrow of wood right up to the boiler when I load so I can do it as quick as possible

I tend to take more than the 5 minutes also so have been doing the damper thing. My exhaust hood is really good at catching the smoke if I don't redo the damper quick enough.

The only time I see any appreciable smoke coming out of the stack on my G200 is if there isn't a good bed of coals after loading or when the unit is throttling down as it reaches 180 degree cycling temp. Sometimes it seems as though it is throttling back the air damper too soon but I guess that is just how they have it programmed to prevent over shooting 180.

To prevent overshooting and I swear the controller has some learning in it, if I have a real heavy load on it Ive seen the damper at one percentage then it would start to lose ground and it opens back up, then next time I check it may be at the same temp as before it lost ground and the damper isn’t closed down as far, or i could be nuts….

You don't even have to close it all the way.  Just push the lever backwards until it meets resistance and then pull it forward again.  Your five minutes will restart.
