Plumbing / Re: Anyone heard of hy-PE-RTube?
« on: November 23, 2017, 07:38:58 PM »
So here's the update. We ran about 200' for my heat loops and I must say I'm impressed. There is virtually no coil memory when uncoiled. It runs out nice and straight and is very flexible. I was able to bend nice tight radius on the corners with no kinking. It has a nice snug fit onto the monoflo tees and pex adapters without having to struggle to make connections. We used clamps but it will accept any of the available types of connections. The quality seems very good compared with some of the less expensive options I have used in the past. Only con I can come up with is that it is not certified for potable water so it is for heat only. I have used the Upnor tubing that can do both and it was nice to be able to use one pex for everything but not a deal breaker. So far I can say that it was worth the extra money.

Well I ordered 300' of the hy-PE-Rtube and it arrived today. Seems pretty nice I'll let everyone know how I make out after I finish up this week.

Love my Makita li-on stuff , not much they make we don't have some things 2 or 3. With that said I have seen and handled a bunch of the Milwakee stuff and I think if I was going to ever switch over I would go red. Well I have always been an IH guy too so it would make sense  ;D

Plumbing / Anyone heard of hy-PE-RTube?
« on: November 14, 2017, 05:16:36 PM »
So I'm finally getting to the heating system portion of our 1850 farmhouse overhaul. I am getting ready to run my loops to tie in my cast iron baseboards and trying to decide what tubing to use. I decided to go with pex for cost and time savings. I saw a new tubing called hy-PE-RTube made by Zurn\Dow. It is supposed to be more flexable with less coil memory than conventional cross linked tubing. Was wondering if anyone out there had heard anything about it? Looks like a good choice for what I need to do. Any suggestions greatly appreciated.

General Outdoor Furnace Discussion / Re: More Moderators
« on: August 12, 2017, 09:23:09 AM »
I don't know that we need multiple moderators maybe just an impartial one who is not directly involved with any of the stove manufactures. I think Marty does a great job of keeping the peace but I also think that there may be some "love and protection" towards some of the concerns directed at Heatmaster and some of the issues they have had with recent boilers. This forum is called Outdoor Wood Furnace Info. That's what it's all about. If there are problems out there people should know about it whether it is with a product or the dealer or the manufacture. Many people come on here all the time to learn about wood boilers as it is a major purchase as well as adding to your daily work load. As long as what is being said is honest and correct people should see it.

HeatMaster / Re: Customer survey
« on: August 12, 2017, 09:04:05 AM »
I guess I should have called them , I tried to email them and no response. I kind of got the feeling that if they really wanted to hear what was going on they would have tried to respond back. I did just send an email to Jake and we will see what comes of that. Thanks Richard for everything you have done for us.It is a shame that you are no longer working with Heatmaster as my closest dealer has never even stocked a boiler let alone any parts or service. And thank you Marty for taking this matter to Jake about my dissapointment.

Hot and humid seems to be the trend here too. I have a bunch of wood to split and I just don't even want to look at it. I was on the roof the other day for a couple hours and it looked like I just jumped in the water when I got down. Give me cold weather any day

General Discussion / Re: Guess it's time to move

so now it is time to move. Wife and I bought an old farmhouse here in Westport that has been in the owners family for 5 generations since the 1850's. Going to be a project but a lot of the most important things have already been done. No heating system right now so a perfect place to set up my boiler the right way.We just started packing and the owner of the house we live in put up the for sale sign. I'll try not to run it over on the way out ::)

HeatMaster / Customer survey
« on: August 05, 2017, 02:41:00 PM »
Back last fall Slim told me that Heatmaster was going to have him come out and do some upgrades to my g-200. He came out and added a cold air box to my fan , cut the curtain rails on the fire box , and changed out my turbulators with heavier ones. At that time he gave me a survey from Heatmaster asking questions about why we bought our boiler , what we liked most about it , how it has changed how he heat our house and so on. It said you could do the survey over the phone or by email. It also said that if you completed the survey they would send you (a case of boiler treatment or a gift card to your favorite restaurant). There was no email address listed so I searched around their web site and found contact information and asked where to send the survey? no answer. I tried emailing again no answer. I just found the paper the other day when I was cleaning my desk , I had kind of forgotten about it. I guess that survey was only meant for who they wanted to hear from. Guess I'm not getting my boiler treatment either :(

ticks are brutal here this year. I have had several deer tick bites already and I'm careful to spray my clothes and check when I'm done. This will be the first year that I'm going to spray the field and all the walls and try to at least get control around the house.

I think I would go with the throw it off the roof idea. 20 years of service is pretty good for any small power equipment (about 19 more than you get out of the cheep weed eaters from the box stores). I bought a new stihl trimmer a couple years ago to replace my old one and you won't believe how different the new ones are. They are quiet , powerful and easy to start and the auto feed heads work really well. Give the old one to someone who needs it and wants to tinker with it before they use it for a hammer  ;)

HeatMaster / Re: Dealer Meeting...

I like my g-200 the way it is , and yes it was a huge nut to swallow when I bought it. I like the bypass and everything else. I could care less about the window , I was offered to have one fabed for me not worth it. If it was cheaper to purchase I could probably get some people to buy one , but cheaper means you loose the features that makes the one I have better than what my friends have. Like the CB's with the charred fronts. But with that said if more people can burn wood and be happy then I'm all for it , It has changed our life both comfort wise and economicly and I'm glad they are offering choices to have the base model and the cadillac. Keep up the quality and that's what matters.Stay in the business where others have failed and make a decent product that will last the test of time. I keep fixing my old trucks because the new ones are not made to last , and my old tractors same thing.

So it's going to happen we made an offer on the house we have been living in forever and after 2 weeks of discussion he rejected it. So it's time to begin to disconnect the wood boiler and find a place to move to. Huge dissapointment. The real estate market here is really messed up with houses hugely over priced and sellers not really negotiable  :bash: :bash: :bash: oh well they can continue to sit on their houses as long as they want. We have some time to move , would like to find something soon and get it over with and get our lives back to normal. Sorry guys needed a place to vent :) Huge Estate Sale coming up!!
