It could be this weekend
« on: December 03, 2009, 04:44:31 PM »

We have not had to put wood in the stove more than one time a day since it was started September 29th.But looking at the weather forecast for the next few days it's going to be the coldest of the season so far.
May need more than one fill per day soon.

I had a half inch of snow on the ground this morning.  The ten day forcast for my area (Thumb of Michigan) doesn't have very many days that are above freezing and more snow is predicted.

This is my first year using my OWB, so far I love the ease of loading and the warmth it generates.  I have burned wood indoors for over ten years so this is surely a treat   It almost seems like I am not doing enough work.  When I burned wood indoors, I hand carried it about 60 yards every day from the wood shed to the house.  Now I have the OWB right next to the wood shed.

No snow down here at least for the next ten days :(  But this morning it was 26 while adding wood to the OWB. Nothing better than watching smoke roll across the sky first thing in the morning!!! Should be great weather this weekend for cutting/splitting wood.

Here is a picture of my OWB located near the wood shed and the first snow of the season here in the Thumb of Michigan.

Yeah it's been nice getting a burn to last 24 hours up till now... I'm thinking it'll be back to "loading at the sixes" for me now until spring... O0

Neat  looking setup. My next project is to build wood shed. Sure would make it a lot easier to keep wood dry. May build shed over wood boiler to. Some people say you use less wood  having stove inside out of wind.
This is my first year to, ditto on ease of loading and it is nice not having to mess with wood in house.

Nice looking setup, Guru.

It's been much more seasonal here in Pittsburgh for the last week or so.  I've been filling twice a day for a couple weeks now but that's just because I like doing it.  I could've gotten by with once a day here until last week or so.  No snow yet, but the frosts are getting more frequent.
