You will be fine with paper clip(s) as long as you don't exceed 1/16 inch gap.

I added a 3ft section of chimney on my 7500. Looks just like automan77's set up. It made a huge difference in my draft. Hotter fire......faster recovery time. Highly recommended.

I mounted mine to the hot water supply about and inch off the top of the water heater and obviously to the drain. Works great.
However, I have in the past tried to plumb it to the anode rod hole (after removing the rod) and the drain. That did not work as the water would not siphon.

Make sure your wood is dry or semi dry. Not sure of your location but you will have less creosote the colder it gets, leaving the stove less time to sit idle. No Ashtrol here

Yeah, tell us about the pros and cons of extending the stack.

Heatmor / Re: Fire keeps going out

I don't understand the light / fan switch on your unit. You said you turned the fan on when it was at 150. Could it be wired wrong? My old wood doctor and many other units sit idle with the fan on and light off. When you want to fill you flip the switch, the fan goes idle and light comes on. Guess Heatmor's are different ???????

I agree with Cabo.                      8 cord = 24 face cord @ $450 = $18.75 per face cord              If I was tight on time I would have him do it. crap... he'll have $40 into fuel/oil.

I'm thinking a grate would also void your warranty...

« on: October 05, 2014, 08:18:56 PM »
No room to position the pumps straight out of the stove. I reduced to 1" copper and used copper flex pipe to get things in line. The same stuff used for the top of hot water heaters. I'm building an insulated box around the unprotected lines. Also going to insulate around the connection area. Kinda disappointed on how exposed the bottom of the stove is.

« on: October 01, 2014, 12:56:09 PM »
Just took delivery of my 7500. After checking it out, I found there isn't too much room for pump hook up without the pump(s) hanging out the bottom of the stove frame. I'm trying to stay away from a bunch of 90's in the pumping. Anyone care to post pics of their pump hook up? Thanks

Chris Muma out of Gladwin has 20 cord loads of Oak logs. Last time I checked it was $1800 to your area. Try Active Tree Service out of Richmond, He always has wood moving. Also try Able Tree Service out of Romeo area. He has more wood than he knows what to do with . PM if you want more info. Im in your area.

Wood Doctor / Re: Leaky WD14000
« on: September 23, 2014, 08:54:17 AM »
After finding more rot around the chimney/firebox weld I decided to sell it. I was unable to get anyone out to look at it to get an estimate for fixing it. I though about cutting the heat exchanger tubes out of it and capping them, thus making it easier to repair the rot area and future repairs. But like I said I could not get a welder to look at it.

I sold it for $1250. With what I had into it, I figured at 9 years old it cost me about $800 a year (I dont buy wood) to heat my home and garage vs. $2500 a year in propane.

I did contact Silverwinds when I found my first leak and they would not entertain helping me fix it.

I'm waiting on delivery of my 7500 Ridgewood.
