it is 3feet by 3 feet fire box water chamber all around front and back 225 gal of water have about 400.00 into it still have to get a pump
-
It is looking good.
What kind of welder are you using? Only 3 leaks isn't bad. Doesn't take much for water to find it's way through.
If you are interested in a used pump I can get take outs that are usually only a couple years old.
-
Looks good! Glad to see its coming along.3 leaks aint too bad!
Now is the point when it starts getting fast and exciting >:D
-
i am using a stick 7018 /6011 rod what do you mean by takeouts i was keeping an eye out for a toco 11 wille g do you have a pic of the side arm you made has eny body seen a boiler that when you open the door there is just a grate that seperates the wood and ash i saw this once but cant remember were still learning how to post pic but it says to much space
-
The pumps are from indoor heating systems that have been replaced. When they put in a new system they pull out everything and put all new pumps in it. The age of them varies but a lot of the time they are fairly new.
I would have to check with the guy I get them from. I think he has a couple Groundfos pumps that are equivalent size to a 0011.
-
i have many reports that grundfos are better pumps but how can i say that when my taco has been going over 10 years? i have ever only had this one so i can offer no comparisons. those that have used them both may have honest opinions..i am not sure all dealers have honest opinions....many may say the one they make the most money on is the best? ;)
-
I used a Taco 0011 in my house and it was getting really noisy randomly after a year. It may have been partially caused by a little air or something but I was never able to get it to quiet down. The impeller looked fine when I pulled it out. I used a Grundfos ever since and it was much better. I think 7 years now. They are better looking too ;D
I got a hold of a used B&G PL36 so that is going to replace the current pump this winter.
There are a lot of Tacos out there running and they do work ok.
-
what kind of price are you looking at for the pump i learned using old bed frams are hard to drill holes and a self taping screw is a no go but it was free so ill have to fig it out also found out that slag that burns trough your pants realy hurts baaaaaadddddd on your privets :o trying to post more pic
-
Looks good so far.... Keep the pics coming.
-
What pics? Seriously! What browser are you using?
-
Well, I said pics, but there's just one in this thread, and several in his other thread...I'm using explorer..

Which model aquastat do you have. Here is a link for the installation manual for a common honeywell aquastat.

Beeman, you should move the aquastat up to the main body of the water.
-
i am using a honeywell L6006c aquastat i think i will try and move it tonight .the wiring is a red screw black screw and a wight spade type i had it wired to the black and red but think it is suposed to be the wight and red is this right thanks

i was just reading in lugnut,s post about smoke stack cloging up the qustion i have is my fires are getting hot enough that the flam can bee seen comming out of the smokestack i did extend the stack to about 10feet is this normal and second has eny body used a spark arester for the top i though about making one eny input
-
Bee man, i know a lot of folks will tell you that you can't run a spark arrestor. I for one ran one all last season and had no problems, a good chimney fire every couple weeks kept it clean as a whistle. But yes, fire out the top of a design like that is common
-
think i might have found some of the problem shaver[ that i based my stove from] there fan is 75cfm mine is 145cfm on the spark arester do you think 1/4 inch is to small
-
Probably, mine had oblong holes probably 1/2"
Make you a slider on your fan that blocks off part of the hole where the air comes in the fan.
If you go to the earth wood furnace site you'll see what I'm talkin bout
-
thank that would be much easer than reastat on fan
-
Oh yea. It's really simple and works well, go for it
-
well testing going well weather girl said with wind chill its down to 17 house is still warm at 75 only one duct going into livingroom hoping to add more rooms soon think i will do our room last the wife cudles closer when its cooler ;D was going to get more done this last weekend but whent and got a load of wood then helped the fatherinlaw skid logs until my trackor broke worked on it tonight man your fingers get cold when you leave your gloves at the truck >:D

I have been away for awhile, and I wanted to say glad to see you got her going!Looks real good also.
Definatly takes awhile to heat the water up when the temp gets that low.I have had mine get cold a few times lately. With working alot of hours it can be hard to keep it up sometimes.
It's a shame the idiot a work doesn't have a clue about what you have accomplished.I would be proud of it .you built it and its taking care of your heating needs.I see it like this.Hes not eating my food or living in my house so he could kiss it!
great job and now go stoke the fires!
-
Welcome back Jackel, I had noticed you had not been around for a few days.
-
Y ea I have been working some crazy hours and then last week we got hit with this really bad wet snow that broke poles and wires all over the surrounding counties. Was out of power for 3 days. Then boy scouts with my son and trying to home school both kids.
sure have some catching up to do around here.

Furnace blower? You will need a relay.
-
could you draw a pic on how to wire thanks gary
-
Is this just a blower by itself or in a furnace? Do you already have a relay and transformer?
-
just a blower got a 24v transformer and wall tstat not shure what relay to get testing on stove has been going good learned something new the switch that turns the fan on/off turn it back on after loading the stove daa blond moment
-
Pretty much any relay with a 24v ac coil and contacts rated at least 120v will work. I have a big drawer of relays at the office and will see if there are any 24vac in it. If there are you can have one for the postage cost if you want it.
-
let me know how much gary winfield 220 county road 320 fayette mo 65248 660-848-2557
-
I forgot to look today. Will try to remember tomorrow. I know there are a lot of 24v dc relays in there but not sure about AC.
-
RSI did you send a relay becouse i recieved what i am guessing is one from wi. it looks like it would plug in not shure let me know gary
-
Yes, I did. You should be able to use push on connectors or solder wires to it.
It was a 3pdt relay so there are 6 connections for contacts but you only need to use 2 of them.
For the thermostat side, connect 120v to the primary of the transformer. Then run one of the secondary wires to the R terminal on the thermostat and the other to one of the coil connections on the relay. Then run a wire from the W on the thermostat to the other side of the relay coil.
If your using a digital thermostat that doesn't use batteries then you need to run a wire from the transformer to the thermostat.
Then for the wiring on the blower, wire the neutral and ground direct. Run the hot to the common of one of the poles and the wire to the fan to the normally open contact. Just look through the side of the relay to see where they are. If you hook up the thermostat you can turn it on and off and see the contacts moving.
I hope this made sense. If not let me know and I will try again. ;D
-
ok the pins are 1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8,9,then a,b what is 120v and what is 24v and how much do i owe you thanks for help gary
-
A and B are the coil connections. That is the 24v part. The 120v goes through one of the contacts. I will have to look at one tomorrow if you need to know what the numbers are. You should be able to just look through the side though.
Do you see the arm with the contacts on it? There is a wire going from the bottom of that to one of the terminals. That is the common. The contact that is isn't touching is the other connection that you need to use. There are 3 sets of them but you will only be using one of them. (unless you want to run the neutral through it too but not usually done)
I think it cost about $2 for postage.
-
Did you get it working? If not, and you still haven't figured it out let me know.
-
RSI have not got a chance to try it yet i burgered up my shoulder doing the cat move on the roof had core training then getting wood so have been worn out at night thats why i have not been around latly
