Bee man, i know a lot of folks will tell you that you can't run a spark arrestor.  I for one ran one all last season and had no problems, a good chimney fire every couple weeks kept it clean as a whistle.   But yes, fire out the top of a design like that is common

Probably, mine had oblong holes probably 1/2"

Make you a slider on your fan that blocks off part of the hole where the air comes in the fan.

If you go to the earth wood furnace site you'll see what I'm talkin bout

well my stove has been running for 3 days real happy with it still working out the bugs like it seems to take to long to heat the water back up that when it dose kick in it takes it a long time just to heat the water back up can you hook an aquastat up backwards  becouse  it shuts down burn when the water gets to about 160 but the aquastat is set on 85 then wont start back up until water is below 100  thanks bull but couldnt find wiring directions at that site  by the way my aquastst is on the line coming from the bottm of the boiler to the house  might have to move it becouse it is like it is using all the hot water before making more  I do whant to thank every body on here  for support becouse today a coworker made a coment about my junkyard stove  looked  ------------- and    ======= of corse i came back   this is true but i have all my kids and dont live in my daddys basement so he is paying the heating bill. of corse i couldent stop after all the hard work and scrounging   before he could say enythig i stated is it going to be mom or dad that picks you up after work becouse of your  d w i  sorry to rant so long thanks for letting me vent every body have a safe thanks giving gary

I have been away for awhile, and I wanted to say glad to see you got her going!Looks real good also.
Definatly takes awhile to heat the water up when the temp gets that low.I have had mine get cold a few times lately. With working alot of hours it can be hard to keep it up sometimes.
It's a shame the idiot a work doesn't have a clue about what you have accomplished.I would be proud of it .you built it and its taking care of your heating needs.I see it like this.Hes not eating my food or living in my house so he could kiss it!
great job and now go stoke the fires!

Furnace blower? You will need a relay.

Is this just a blower by itself or in a furnace? Do you already have a relay and transformer?
