Sorry about your buddy, but ads for him at our expense?  That is what makes this site great, the lack of ads, as well as the knowledge and experience of people here.  Although, you did say that this is a business venture, so I guess you are going to try to make money somewhere.
My vote is for no ads.  Everything is great how it is, and remaining that way would help keep this forum what it is truly all about.

Thanks for the input.  I'll hold off on the ads for at least a few months.  If we try any, and if they are a distraction or irritating, I would be happy to remove them.  One idea for ads would be a google banner that posts ads and shares the income with the forum.  Then, rather than asking forum members to send money to help with costs, all I would need to do is ask forum members to click on the banner ads!   :D

We'll worry about that later.  For now, I am just having a great time getting to know everyone.

If ads are a concern for everyone which I think they are, why don't you just put a thread for advertisers to put their ads.  If people choose to look in that thread so be it but it won't bother any of us otherwise.  I think people on here are trying to say no pop-ups etc.

Hey new owner, thanks for keeping this site going, it has helped me alot. Do what you think you have to do, and if it does not work, change it back, but I would get everyone on here on board, so you can keep some contact with them. Good Luck and  Thanks.

I can't fault anyone from trying to make a little something on their investment.  Please remember in your decisions what made this site great.  Thank you for making the investment in this site.  It is, in my opinion, one of the most informative and helpful places on the web.  As long as advertisers do not bias the forum or dictate content, it won't bother me.  I don't pay attention to 99% of them anyway.  Welcome to the fray.

So true! That site is crazy. Spend most of my time just scrolling down when I'm there. Do what you have to do. I would prefer banner than pop ups, but I'm sure that goes wothout saying. Might as well say I prefer air to C02. Welcome

Wow I am sick for awhile and then don't get back on here and I find out we've been bought out.
I hope this board stays the same.I don't go to arborist site hardly anymore because of all the ads and stuff.
I hope the new owner does leave things the way they are as everyone likes the site without any influence from the industry.
I guess we'll just have to wait and see what happens.

Well with the recent issues with spam, I would think that we should be looking at getting some moderators to stop it however it is paid for, I don't like adds and think that with a little coaxing the industry would step up to the plate and donate a bit of money to pay for it, perhaps a separate thread to thank sponsors would be appropriate.
