HeatMaster / Re: Front door leak
« on: November 15, 2014, 05:03:46 AM »
I've seen furnaces drip so much I was convinced it was leaking but it wasn't. Seems two things have contributed to the bad cases I've seen, one is the furnaces were oversized and idled a lot. Colder weather helps a lot because it causes the heat demand to rise and the furnace to cycle more often. Secondly is the wood that is burned. I bet if you tried some seasoned hardwood that had been stored in a wood shed the problem would almost go away.
The worst one I have ever seen was a guy burning green river birch, there was steady drip coming out of the ash pan. I actually switched out that furnace thinking there was an issue with the furnace but the second one did the same thing. Then we hooked up a second building to the furnace and the problem almost went away.

-I would recommended Scott as well.
-Top bypass door is for cleaning only.
-All e models should run the fan at 100%. Standard models may find some benefit at reducing the damper slightly especially on the smaller models.

Another possibility I just though of but I don't know where you are located. I have a customer who is putting a used fairly new MF3000e on the market so he can buy a MF5000e I have in stock. You may be able to buy a furnace like that and the parts to install for about $7,000 or less. Message me if you are interested or live close enough to Va for shipping not to kill ya.

Buying from a local dealer is important, I wouldn't step on another dealers toes. http://www.heatmasterss.com/contact Check and see if there may be another dealer close enough to get a second price. Also check and see if the local dealer is including the rebate offered right now.

I've used those on infloor heat jobs and they worked really well. It allows me to adjust my mixing valve to exact temps as needed.

I can't really say if you are getting a good deal for your area or not. We sell a 3000 for $5700 and a 5000 for $6600. As far as parts they can vary a lot but you might find some cheaper options online.

You should be able to find a dealer to sell you the 5000 plus the main parts for $8,000

I'm very hesitant to go with a mild steel furnace, just a lot of risk in a gasser.

HeatMaster / Used G100
« on: September 29, 2014, 06:08:24 PM »
I put this out there awhile back but now that its getting colder I thought I may try again. I have a slightly used G100 that I tested for one month that I'm selling $1500 off the suggested retail. Great deal for someone looking for a like new furnace. http://www.yoderheating.com/usedfurnaces.html

To be clear, my dad and brother are also selling furnaces locally and I think they are going to stick it out. My point was I don't see sales continuing at the current level where it will support all three of us.

Thanks guys and slim I will give you a ring. The bottom line is in my opinion Heat Master is the brand I would want to sell but there just isn't going to be enough work for 3 of us here any more. I'm not going to stay at it struggling along selling 10 or 20 units a year, its just too much work for too little money. Its better if my brother can consolidate everything, at least one of us can stay busy that way.

Right now there is my dad, brother and I all selling and installing Heat Master in the same location and we all stay busy. We don't see there being enough business for 3, I seriously doubt there will be enough for one but that will remain to be seen.
I don't know what other brand would be cheaper than what Heat Master has to offer. Maybe Empyre but its not much difference. Heating costs in the south are not what they are farther north so cost is really going to have an effect on sales going forward probably more than if I was located differently.
I'm in a lucky spot I guess, my wife's business is doing well so I'm not going to starve. I already spend at least a third of my time volunteering in different roles in the community. The rest of my time I guess I will work on expanding the farm.
As I said before I'm not going to starve, lose my house or be begging in the street. On the other hand I can't help being a bit angry as I watch the business I worked so hard on be destroyed by the epa.  :bash:
