Mr Fred Grimshaw of Grimshaw tree and crane service in Windsor Ct and Mr Dean Cornish of Topsham, Maine, you will both be missed greatly by myself as well as all your customers and friends. Until we meet again!

HeatMaster / Ok so I got a call from one of my customers last night
« on: November 05, 2017, 06:27:07 AM »
Yup you guessed it, a HeatMaster G 400  ( don't ban me yet Marty. ) I'm actually wondering if anybody else has experienced this before, I'm on the road and won't be able to help him until probably Monday evening. So anyways he bought last fall and ran well all winter, boiler was cleaned this spring, he fired back up a few days ago and all was working as it should but last night he called and said that the shaker handle would not move and that there is lots of smoke coming from the damper plate up front, I'm thinking plugged tubes but he says they were working fine yesterday morning, last night one crank on the handle and they jammed solid. I did have an issue with a G 400 last year that the locking coupler on the shaft loosened up and would not move the shaft but it never stuck the mechanism that lifts the turbulators, oh and by the way, this customer says the turbulators seem free and can be lifted slightly without the handle, it seems the issue is in the shaft.

Polar Furnace / Polar furnace and Efficiency Maine rebates
« on: August 30, 2017, 04:17:43 PM »
Just so anyone in the market for a new wood boiler understands, all EPA approved Polar brand furnaces have now been accepted by Efficiency Maine for the rebate program, the program is good for 1/3 of the installed cost up to a cap of $3000.

General Discussion / I helped an old friend out yesterday

He moves bridge beams, this one went to the I-81 and I-88 interchange area, it is 130 feet long and weighs 65000 pounds for those of you that know I-88, I bet you can understand how tired my right arm got shifting that old Mack, long slow ride from Maine but it was fun!

General Outdoor Furnace Discussion / More Moderators
« on: August 08, 2017, 08:00:48 AM »
I was contacted by the owner yesterday regarding posting pics, that issue now appears to be solved, Thank You. He then asked if I had any other things that I wished to discuss, well as a matter of fact I do. Marty seems to be the only active moderator and I feel that is a lot to ask of one man, he does a great job, he is pretty darn impartial and keeps the peace well, however he is alone for the most part! The owner asked if I would take on the position, my response is the same as the last time I was asked, respectfully no thank you. I feel that Moderators should be as impartial as possible and being a dealer, I feel that would be a conflict of interest.
I was asked to start a thread to nominate 2 more Moderators like we had a few years ago, personally I would like for those folks to be not attached to a wood boiler company in any way.

General Discussion / New E Mail and website
« on: April 10, 2017, 05:38:29 AM »
I would like to announce our new website and EMail address for any of you that are interested, in the past we have relied on corporate or outside help with our little operation, things are changing, we are now completely on our own! We will be promoting products that we choose and think are good for our customers, there will be no ties to any corporate office. What does this mean to you the end user, it means that if you trust in us, our number one goal will be to give you the best bang for your buck as well as a system that makes sense for you.
What does this move mean to us? It gives us some real leverage to broker the best deal we can with the manufacturers that we deal with, this would include new ideas for the market, features and benefits that customers want to see in a product line and yes it also will give us some leverage for factory warranty issues. We are certainly not a large corporation but in this poor market for wood boilers, our reputation and ability to service / install has allowed us to expand when most dealers are closing the doors.
There are those manufacturers who think it easier to reign in a new customer or dealer than to take good care of the one they already have, by going out on our own with no corporate ties we can much more easily take care of the customer we already have and that customer will provide our next sale / install.
There is still a lot of work yet to do on the website but I would like to invite all of you to check it out, make suggestions on what you would like to see etc. as with our Facebook page our website pops right up at
Mainly Custom
Our new EMail is
service@mainlycustom.com
I hope to see you all there.

Polar Furnace / I'm impressed
« on: April 03, 2017, 11:29:54 AM »
I met Neal Rob up at the Fryburg fair last fall ( HI NEAL ) and he was running a Polar OWB, I think I posted some pics on here someplace,  because I was his competition, I tried hard not to sneak around to spy on his unit, this year I decided to take the product on simply on its quality build, today I fired up one of my G2 plus units, darn, I think the industry is on the right track, before it is even hot or even close, its gassing, check out the pics!
