i have noticed that there seems to be some light colored water or creosote in my door opening on my hardy h-4. i am curious if this is water or creosote? it is hooked up to auto fill and i never see the light on indicating that it is being filled so i guess my question is is it water or not i hope not as it is less than one year old thank you

I have an H-5 and everyday when it's real cold out I have an icicle on the lower right of the firebox door.  This happens everyday....  It's kind of yellow or orangish in color.  I end up just hitting it with my glove and knocking it off.   Is this what your talking about or is it actually inside the door on the little ledge?

My H-2 drips a brownish colored water from the door.  It drips down onto the frame of the ash door.  I'm pretty certain that it is creosote.  Once it dries it doesn't come off very good.

 Hey, that's water, it's from the door being cold and the fire being hot. 

Same priciniple I'm always preaching on about return water temps only not as problematic.  The cold air outside cools the interior door temp below 140, condensation forms on the colder door, drips out and forms ice, orange dirty color is just from it coming from a dirty environment

thanks scott i never really thought about it being codensation makes alot of sense i was just worried there for a minute that i had a leaky unit. thanks for all the comments
