Yes, I'm burning. I've been burning for about 6 weeks. Dramatic drop in usage. I'll try to get a first impressions video up soon.

I've been eyeballing these things a few years now.  I have my Heatmor 200 CSS that works just fine, heats the house fine, etc.  But, the Heatmaster G200 is on the short list as a future replacement if I ever have issues.  I'm not totally sure about moving on to a gassifier, though.  A lot of the wood I burn is not seasoned more than a couple of months and I usually load 2x a day max.  Would a G200 handle wet wood?  How do you burn in them?  Just load them and leave it alone?  I started a fire in my Heatmor in October and is hasn't been off since.  Is that how a G200 works, too?

They can burn some wet wood but you gotta have a little dry to help it along. Once I start burning I only stop every 6 weeks or so to clean the fire box out good. Also I scrape the ashes out from underneath or push the wood down because it bridged over a little when you see smoke. I load it twice a day I could do once a day but I find it creates more creosote.

I’ve burnt nothing but ash tops in mine for months at a time that weren’t anywhere near as dry as I had hoped, 30-40% moisture. With wetter wood it needs split down smaller so it can make coals as fast as they are depleted, also plan  on a lot more creosote formation and higher usage with wet wood.

If you just keep cutting the same amount of wood you do now, you should be much more than 3 months ahead after a little while.

I can cut wood earlier and have it drier.  I was just curious how it handled wet wood.

So basically, I just have to add wood?  I don't have to light a fire every day and watch it burn.  I can literally just fill it a couple times a day.  Set it and forget it kind of deal?

Do you think it would decrease my wood consumption by 50%?  I'm using about 10 cords a year right now.

I just stack wood, shake the turbulator handle, and walk away.
I do keep my wood in a shed. And I cut my wood down by at least a third (compared to conventional) and I keep adding SQ footage to heat.

I waited for the latest and greatest. I know they upgraded the sight glass. I think there was a change in the controller compartment and a fresh air vent for the fan motor in the back. Outside of that, I don't know what the difference are, except for the paint scheme.

Here is a video I shot about my usage. I doubt many will get as big of a savings account I did. But, you will see a reduction no doubt. It burns like a conventional, in that you load it and it cycles on and off. I load every 10-14 hours. I don't go 24 like I did with my conventional.

Are you filling the firebox all the way to the top? How much charcoal is usually left when you load it?

I don't load full every load.  In fact, this winter has been so mild here I have yet to fill it to the top.  I load what I need to get 10-14 hours.  I try to load so that when I'm ready to re-fill, I have a bed of coals and a couple small charred pieces left.  I probably keep my coal bed deeper than most, and that is because I struggled at first to get my coal bed established and then didn't load enough wood several times.  I guess you could say I'm a little gun shy.
