I have noticed that at times (maybe 3-4)  when I go and load my stove that the blower is buzzing.  if I tap on it with something it will stop.  its a brand new shaver modified blower from altheat.com with the dampner and solenoid.  The blower works all the time and and has not quit.  when it stops buzzing it sounds quite.  so im unsure what the noise is and if I should be ready for it to stop working soon.  its been in operation for 2 weeks to the day was brand new out of the box.

Most likely it's the solenoid making the buzzing noise. Buzzes right at 60 hertz.

My old owb had a blower with a dampener and solenoid, sometimes it would come on quiet, other times, it would start with that buzzing noise, went on for 14 years without a problem with the blower or solenoid. Just vibration from the relay or something.

so if its the solenoid should I have anything to worry about of just tap on it and forget it?

I asked my dealer that question back then, he said, don't worry about it. I used to give it a tap now & then until it got old.

Mine does the same thing I bought a spare one but have never had to use it been 3 or 4 years now.

I'm in exact same situation - Shaver furnace with supplemental parts from Altheat.  I have a variable speed control and it only seems to buzz at the halfway point or lower; when it's set to high the rattle/buzz/vibration goes away.  I'm bascially dealing with it by just turning it up.

My bigger problem is that when the blower shuts off (I have it set at about 180), by the time the water temp drops for it to kick back on, the fire is typically beyond saving and it goes out.  Any suggestions?  I've been cracking the ash pan door just to keep some convection going, but ...

The solenoid noise of the most part is harmless, the solenoid vibrates at 60 cycles per minute, just like the supply runs at which is 60 hertz. If you could control the hertz and lower it, the buzzing noise would change tone accordingly. Solenoids on my homemade have buzzed since day one, that was back in 2001, still using the original solenoids.

My shaver does the same thing.  If you open the back door and nudge the plunger on the solenoid different directions, it normally quiets down.  seems to be an alignment issue on mine.

Make a buzz sound right back at it and see if you can intimidate it enough to stop.
