It should be ok as long as it gets above freezing during the day, but to make sure you could turn your pump on and let it run

I'm thinking most will say the highest setting. Has something to do with circulating the hottest water possible back in the OWF

I just added on to my log catcher to make it bigger.
A 4 way splitter will work but you will end up with a lot of small pieces of wood if you are using them in a OWF

General Outdoor Furnace Discussion / Don't get caught short!!

Just a reminder -
Don't get caught short this winter by not having spare parts for your OWF.
It took me two years, but I have a extra part for every item on my OWF

Legend / Warped plate on inside of door
« on: October 18, 2014, 02:36:05 PM »
Any of you Legend owners have a problem with the plate on the inside of the door warping?  It it the plate with holes in it for the fan to blow air into the firebox.  It is about the same size as the door

The plug on the side is at the bottom of the engine, so draining it there will drain all the oil out without lifting up one side of the engine.

I used Fluid Film when I cleaned out this spring.  It is still shines with a oil finish.  Much better than motor oil and diesel fuel that I have used in the past.  Fluid Film is the way to go!!

Fire Wood / What would you do?
« on: October 16, 2014, 10:43:49 AM »
I have approx. 20 pine trees that measure 12-24 inches across.  To few for someone to cut down and haul away.  I have access to hardwood but was thinking about cutting them up for use in my OWF because I don't want to waste the wood.  What would you do?

You should have an adjustment on your tractor that regulates the flow of oil to make the remote work faster or slower depending on how you set it

General Outdoor Furnace Discussion / Anode Rod
« on: August 14, 2014, 07:16:28 PM »
I drained the water out of my OWF today after two seasons.  There was nothing left of the Anode rod.  I've read a lot on this site about the anode rod.  Some say use it, some say not.  I'm about to say not!  The bottom was covered with what was left of the anode rod.  I pump water from the top of the OWF instead of the bottom and I'm hoping this has kept the anode particles out of my pumps and heat exchanger.  I'm thinking the chemical I put in my OWF for rust should do the same thing the anode rod does.

What do you guys think??
