Do you burn just slabs or slabs and chunk wood . I'm just all slabs here
I know a local guy has a 7300 crown Royal.

I should added all oak slabs 15% moisture there was like 3 feet of just heat waves running 660f  then steam was just crazy at that cold -33.5f . It's like flash fog smoke. Polar vortex had serious punch in Minnesota . Cotton -56f windchills . Crazy stuff.

I like the whining about burning wood . Because you can make wood burning as cheap as you want . Depends on your wood hoarding skills..
It really boils down to the person you a coucher or a outside doer. It's that easy . Burning wood my whole life . Some years wood is free. Some years you pay more .  But across years of burning . I would of saved about $500-$3000 a year . When you buy a gas furnace those options are out the window you are locked in just don't forget there is a $3000 furnce that needs attention also.  Service calls need to added to the gas bill . And monthly service charges on meter to your house. Ooo the details . 😎👍

I testing closing draft more but 660f seems like overall sweet spot for my Heatmor 400 but it's got a 3 zone load average 75,000 a loop. So might have to stay there to get the transfer heat to water. Seems like to just roar then cycle off . Off times are longer if chimney hotter. Make any sense . lol I might be spitting hairs.

If the pump was at the stove . Pulling from bottom of the tank with check valve wouldn't it work just fine. Let me know.  Head pressure be kinda high.

Easy motivation is ask anyone how much there LP bill is . Don't forget what's temp of your house .  Or what's temp in your house during polar vortex . And long super hot showers is just a bounus . Other bonus is waving to LP truck as it drives by .. and watching LP prices to can keep your wood focus in check .. another good thing to keep focus is what can do to burn less wood . ( That can fill space of alot brain cells )  it's where motivation meets wallet . 👍😁

Ok here I'm heatting 6600 spft . Burned 4.5 cord oak slabs. With a old style Heatmor 400 . 2 houses shop and garage. Centeral MN 3 zones . I have got it to gasify a crazy rose color cloud flames at top of in firebox . It's about adjusting the drafts.  I'm right about like last year slabs are bit dryer this year.

General Outdoor Furnace Discussion / Draft testing
« on: January 07, 2019, 12:12:55 AM »
I was testing how to burn slabs most efficient way.. what could I put over the old pex Al pex in case flames shoot back thru fan . I can't move the pex it's incased in polyurethane from old boiler install . Could I just cover it with thick wrap of aluminum foil? Or something different. I think if it back draft it just be flash flames .. right now I got the 36x54x28 firebox gasifying it fills whole boiler with rose Color flame.
But at below 0f I need to start covering the back draft fan to slow down the chimney heat. When it starts gasifying water temp gos up fast . Burning 13.9% average oak slabs ..
