Hi everyone. Im building a gassifer stove and had a couple of Questions. Wanted to get some more info on where is a good place to buy refractory and fire brick? Also just wanted some input on how the nozzle works for your second burn chamber.

Im going to try and build a boiler on the same design as the p&m optimizer 250. I have seen pictures on the air inlet that pushes air into the nozzle but just how is the smoke from the fire drawn downward? Doesnt there need to be some way to let air into the fire box to allow the smoke to be drawn into the nozzle. Im guessing theres a draft door in the fire box that opens to help that happen? Does anyone have a good description of how the hole process takes place. Thanks

The upper chamber the wood is loaded into is "pressurized" with a blower the rich in fuel smoke gas mixture is then pushed thru the nozzle where it is mixed with heated air and then it secondary burns at a high temp.
Thats my take on the process.
Did you find any posts about home made 250's I was not able to find any using the search?

Jeremy is right, air is brought in from the rear air box through the water jacket and into the firebox as well as just behind the nozzle in the reaction chamber.

I don't want to hijack this thread but this is OT.
Does anyone have a diagram of the floor and nozzle area of a 250 or really detailed pictures?
To answer the OP I buy all of my firebrick at my local block/brick yard they charge me $1.65 for the 1-1/4 bricks.
And I made this

with a 50/50 by volume mix of refractory cement and perlite there is 1/2" chicken wire in the middle of it also.
The "board" is 1-1/4 x 26 x 24 it weighs about 30Lbs I have about $80 into it 3 10Lb buckets of refractory cement and 1.5 small bags of perlite I have had this installed now for about 3 weeks in the ceiling of my primary burn chamber and still looks new.
