Another fantastic global warming/climate change pseudo-science support find!   :post:

....the silence in this thread is deafening!

Well that^^ and the usual hypocrisy from the more vocal government supporters of global warming just turns me off the entire theory. It is just a theory after all, during the drought and heatwave of 2012 that was used as the perfect example of global warming, then comes 2013 which was wet and cooler than normal here, that was used as an example of global warming, then came last winter with record setting cold and snow fall and that was blamed on global warming, pick one and run with it. During the 70's it was the next ice age, now it's everything blamed on global warming. If back when global warming was first brought up and everything came true, Florida would be under water, polar bears would be extinct and all the polar ice would be gone, instead we have Florida doing just fine, polar bears are/were going hungry, not because the ice is gone but because its too thick and the seals aren't popping up for the polar bears to eat.

I would say you are confusing weather with climate. Quite a difference.

So man can continue to pollute our lands, seas and air of the earth without changing the current environment?

I suppose you guys also believe 911 was a government conspiracy and we also did not land on the moon...that is was all faked by the government. Now global warming is political. Yeah right on on all accounts......not.

Sad that you guys joke about global warming. Future generations will not appreciate the humor. :(

Milder: In the midst of the Sochi Olympics, the New York Times posted a wake-up piece about the future of snow skiing. According to the article's author, Porter Fox — an editor at Powder magazine and author of Deep: The Story of Skiing and the Future of Snow — climate change will not put an end to winter in the U.S., but it will significantly alter the way winter looks and feels. "The planet is getting hotter," he wrote. "Since 1970, the rate of winter warming per decade in the United States has been triple the rate of the previous 75 years, with the strongest trends in the Northern regions of the country. Nine of the 10 hottest years on record have occurred since 2000."

Did not read the article but global warming is real. We cannot continue to burn fossil fuels, driving gasoline powered vehicles and add millions of tons of carbon into the air year after year without consequences. North pole melting more every year. Permafrost thawing  rapidly. Ice cover decrease. Only portion of glaciers left. Extreme heat in most of the US.  Do not have to be smart to realize what is happening. A natural cycle? Think again.

General Outdoor Furnace Discussion / Re: Octagon firebox/water cooled door

I can answer a very specific question about doors since I am the designed of Wood Boiler LLC.  When I built the first boiler I had a very specific safety requirement.  I did not want my small girls to touch the door and get third degree burns when I was not home and they were playing in the backyard.  All other benefits are just a bonus.  Warp age is funny statement because warp age occurs because of welding a water cooled door the hotter and longer the weld it is natural by product.  Or you can use really thin metal and jig it that is another solution but the other companies.

We may be small be we have an in-depth knowledge of our products and quite frankly we have some of the best on the market.

As far as bending metal I have never witness a single crack in plate from a bend you have to keep in mind all manufacturers either roll or bend to reduce the number of weld points just part of the process.  This in my opinion is a lack of metallurgy knowledge to say it causes cracks, this simply not the case if you understand the process.

Still do not quite understand the water cooled door. Kids can be taught not to touch no big issue there.  Why the octagon firebox?

I live about 20 miles from Lebannon and seriously considering your boiler. Just have not had time to visit your place of business.

What would be the advantage/disadvantage of the octagon firebox vs. a round one? More surface area? Would it really matter?

Advantage of water insulated/cooled door on firebox?
