in case you are scraapping your stove
« on: March 16, 2010, 04:13:09 PM »

todays scrap prices in my area are as follows

300 series stainless is 80 cents a pound

400 series stainless is 07 cents a pound (thats right 7 cents)

plain old mild steel is 10 cents a pound

your expensive 400 SS fire box that rotted out is not worth as much as mild steel and they charged how much more for it?

sorry couldn't resist a little poke.

it must be the spring air...enjoy it

i have been watching ''car price'' of scrap creep up to $180 ton .figures.... i scrapped # 1 iron three weeks ago @$175 ton,now its over $200.. but i will have to call on stainless.still have some 6' tank sections left,..last time i asked it was .50 cents lb .that would be nice if it up to .80 cents here..spring cleaning sooner then later.
