London Farm Show started today, March 7 and goes to the 9th.
Ottawa Farm Show March 13, 14 and 15th.
I know over the last number of years that Pm, Polar, Central Boiler, Heatmaster and Heatmor were in Ottawa, I am assuming that they all would be in London.

Rob, keep in mind that there is and has been a lot less traffic on this forum so your responses will be limited. You might want to post your question on the Facebook pages if you're on FB as well as there are more PM owners there now as well as other manufacturers. Two I follow are "outdoor wood boilers" and " the truth about outdoor wood boilers".
As with almost anything, you rarely hear people raving about how good something is, usually just complaints.
As Mr Maple has mentioned, and his accounts are consistent, he has had different results with 3 different units. I also have read that he is now seeing different results again with really dry wood. So who knows, maybe his PM would have been better with that wood, or maybe not.
I am very happy with mine, it's soon to be finishing it's 5th season and the only part I needed is the float for the water level. I replaced the firebrick grates to the new style ( wider with built in spacers)as mine had the narrow original style that would move when raking coals.
I used less wood this year than previous years as it wasn't a cold year here in Eastern Ontario.
Seeing as your handle is Farmer Rob, have you thought about going to either the London Farm Show or the Ottawa Farm Show? You can see many of the manufacturers there and compare build quality and price.  Good luck with the research.

PS, I'm not a dealer or an employee of any boiler manufacturer.

Equipment / Re: Wood Splitter Recommendation?

If you were closer  you could have had a look at it, but Barrie to my place is a bit of a drive. If you give PM a call they should be able to give you a few names of owners who can let you see one in operation. Same for the other manufacturers, they should be able to get some contacts. Good luck, and if you find yourself heading out my way let me know, I could probably show you a neighbour's 34-44 with shaker grate too.

Farmer Rob, it's the only one I have owned or operated so can't compare with another one. But I really like it. This is the 5th season with it heating 1500 sq ft bungalow with full basement and hot water. It's slightly oversized because I planned on heating the garage but never got there yet. Only issue I had was the original firebrick they used for the grates were smaller and would move around, I have replaced them with the now standard ones. Other than the first season, I start burning early November and usually shut down end of April and have yet to burn more than 5 cord/season. It's very user friendly and easy to clean.
What unit do you have now and where are you located?

Yup. A generator or a lot of extension cords. Lol.
It was an option only if you're concerned about fluid viscosity. I would just let it warm up, working it half throttle for a few minutes before getting into full throttle mode. Gets both of you warmed up ready for the work out. ;)

Another option would be to go to your local auto supply or farm equipment supplier and get a magnetic block heater.
FIL uses one with a small generator when he parks his tractor in the bush.

I don't think you will have any issues with it. Hydraulic fluid isn't like molasses, lol. If you're prepared to work outside I'm sure the splitter will be just fine. I let mine warm up a few minutes, then I'll cycle the hydraulics a couple of times and even the first couple of blocks I will pick a couple of easy ones to get the fluid warmed up. Then its wide open for as long as either of us has gas to go.

I figured that was the case, just hadn't seen it mentioned so thought I'd ask.

GUSWHIT,you probably have but did you check with your insurance company about putting a furnace inside the garage? The G200 may be used inside but will they let you? I haven't seen this question asked here yet. Insurance providers all seem to have different policies. Sorry if this is a stupid question.

General Outdoor Furnace Discussion / Re: Near miss

I have a small gas generator that I keep in heated garage. It's kind of a P.O.S., but I run it occasionally to make sure it works. I pull the wiring from my electrical panel, hook an extension cord to it and put it out though the basement window. I can run the pump and fan on the furnace, and I can also run a small fan in the back of the oil furnace to move some heat in the house. There's a better way I know, but this works for me on the occasional outage.

Gotcha. I thought I read that in one of your posts that you have a firewood business but wasn't sure.
Also my bad when you mentioned gas, I assumed natural gas, not LP.

As much as I like my furnace, if I had gas available I probably would have gone that way as it isn't expensive here compared to propane, oil or electric heating. I have lots of wood available thanks to Dutch Elm disease and now Emerald Ash borer. But sometimes, just sometimes it would be nice to just turn up the thermostat and not have the extra work.
If I were you, I'd at least get a comparative estimate on the gas boiler vs the Garn, just for the hell of it.

GUSWHIT, I can totally get your frustration and I hope you can find an answer to your situation.

My post was only in response to d5knapp as he mentioned Brian and or PM should do something. Maybe they are, maybe not, but I wouldn't have expected them to do anything if it were me in this situation. I know that you have only been burning for a few weeks, but you mentioned that you purchased it almost 2 years ago. If this info is incorrect, my apologies.
