General Outdoor Furnace Discussion / DIY spray foam closed cell 7.1-7.6 per inch
« on: July 05, 2014, 03:56:05 PM »
For those interested, there are some great spray foam kits readily available thru Menards starting at $1/bf which is less than market rate.
Several options that are excellent for doing trenches and your own underground lines. Encased in PVC using slow rise injected and you have a product as good or better and cheaper than most market brands.
Also good for repair if you wanted to.
Buying online, you get hit withthe $100 plus shipping per kit, since a 300bf kit weighs over a hundred lbs. menards covers this as long as you can wait or buy off the shelf. Foam it green has great product line too for same or lower price than the DOW product but once again shipping is a killer. Either way it's still a project that is not cost prohibitive.

Wow?
You will be fine with your 3/4" taps as long as you combine several. Is this a gas or electric tank?
I use 2-3 3/4" bungs for the supply and an equal amount for return. You will make a header for S&R, you will increase the size as soon as possible. Now that you have two large S&R lines, put a tee on each. One side of the tee to boiler, other side to load (house).
What this does is divide the velocity between the combined 3/4" bungs, this will reduce or eliminate turbulence that might die stratify the tank.
Look at the Tarm, or varmobeneen storage tanks, they too are single fed lines, piped in reverse return if more than one tank is used. Don't forget, it's very easy to just weld on larger sized bungs exactly where you want them. For stuff I need AWS certified my guy is $69/2"bung plus bung cost. And he's done 4 for a hundy when I prepped it. I have two 120 gal and 1-75 gal waiting to be done now.
Gas water heater= top 2-3 bung to supply
Drain and gas valve for return.
Electric water heaters, benefit of side heater element bungs, anywhere from 1"-1.25" more than enough for 8 GPM flow without destrat.

Its 5' feet here for wood burning. Now that you changed draft, you should measure and make sure it meets manufacturer specs. You can find a manometer for around a$100

Me being me, I only use CI on closed systems, bronze or SS for anything open, I don't get the build up in and around the impeller nearly as much. And depending on your distributor, they won't or are not supposed to warrant any CI circs on open systems. 3yrs for circs used in their proper application.

One pump is NO good. Unless it's just one small zone. 5 small pumps can move more GPM and use less electricity than one big pump. Zoning give more control and comfort. But your system layout and loads will determine most of what you will use.

Complaining to the host , ie godaddy in this case usually gets a response from the owner. But the complaint has to be of a serious content problem I believe. Vulgar, reposting someone's personal info without permission etc....
They forward that to the owner to clean up his site. Since he's not responding to our reports.

When did it get cleaned, the first 14 pages are 99% dick monkeys. It's pushing off old useful info and threads.
And who specifically is the mod? I see the outdoorwoodfurnaceinfo name as the owner in a thread, whose the other.........l

Scott knows the owners? Shouldn't have to pay a dime, there are security windows/questions they can add, or request an approval. You have to wait for mod approval but that kills 99% of it

Well something has to be done. I'm not sure what access level this board has but I know some can limit anything. So its easy and not risky to let a few that visit. Here a lot handle the delete button.
From what I seen a lot of the spam is local, and a single source in Korea,&UK
I've never gotten a response from the owner or from reporting.
Owners info is private & hosted thru godaddy. Originating link from Denver to Minnesota,St.Paul and then to goddady host in Scottsdale Az.
