Title: Rehau Insulpex
Post by: Jwood on April 04, 2014, 01:51:42 PM
Anyone use this stuff yet? I know most go with Logstor but the insulpex looks like quality stuff as well. I like Rehau pex and they have great manifolds. Just curious on what you guys think, and if anyone knows a price per foot?

My P&M dealer has the Rehau.... I did not go with the Rehau product as the "1-inch" Rehau insualted Pex was an actual i.d. of .875 inches (calculated as (28.58mm - (2*3.18mm)) = 22.22 mm or .875" PEXa internal diameter (i.d.))

Compare to Logstor's "1-inch" dual insulated Pex piping's i.d. of 26.2mm (or 1.032 inches):

LINK:  Logstor Dual Dual PEX-Flex (Click Here) (http://www.urecon.com/documents/pdfs/brochures/Urecon_PEX-Flex.pdf)

In short, Logstor 1-inch Dual Pex piping is some 17.9% larger than the Rehau product and can carry more heat load in the same linear length of pipe.  Logstor "1-inch" is nearly as large i.d. as "American 1 1/4 inch" dual pex insulated piping.  That's just the way it is.

It would have to be much cheaper than logstor

My supply house that I spend a lot of money with quoted me outrageously high prices 2 years ago, when they found out what I sold retail for they stopped trying to push me to it.

How does it compare in price to logstor?

My Portage & Main dealer quoted me a price of $11.50 per foot for the 1-inch Rehau Dual-Pex Insulpex with O2 Barrier.

Classic Comfort charged me $12.70/foot for the 1-inch Logstor Dual PEX-Flex.  I bought Logstor.

If you are entertaining Rehau, check the pricing for 1 1/4" dual pex... it might be an option if within a couple dimes of Logstor's 1-inch pricing.  If not, just get the Logstor and be done.  ;)

No I'm thinking logstor myself just saw the Rehau stuff so I figured I see what everyone thought, just more knowledge I guess. Oh and you guys drink beer? Ok we can be friends but you have to visit Minnesota!

Rehau Insulpex is also available with the 26.2mm ID SDR11 pex like Logstor comes with.

Now you got thinking I have more research to do! What would you go with RSI?

At this point I can't recommend one over the other. I don't currently sell either but may start at some point. I talked to Rehau last fall about it and need to get back to them.

If anyone has a scrap of Logstor they want to send me, I can take a picture of it next to the Insulpex samples and post it for visual comparison.

Do you have any pictures of insulpex for the time being, that is a great idea of side by side picture for comparison

I have the samples on my desk at the office. I won't be back there till Monday or later.
I have 1", 26.2mm ID and 1-1/4". Do you want a picture of all 3?

Rehau is great pipe, but you'll find it more expensive when comparing the same ID. As was noted 1" logstor is bigger than 1" rehau. As of a week ago 1" rehau was $11.50, 1 1/4"=$13 and 1 1/2"=$21-23 special order. These are retail prices. This time of the season you might get lucky and find somebody trying to lighten inventory

I purchased Rahu from my dealer in Bucklin Mo. he did not have any on hand he said it was to expenseve just to keep it lyin around, for true inch you had to buy at least 250 foot roll and he charged me 10.95 a foot plus shipping it ended up costing a around 15 dollars a foot I thought that was high, son in law took half, shew still was high.

I should have labeled them. The bottom left is regular 1" and the top is 1-1/4"
The one with the thinner wall on the pex is the metric that is the same as Logstor.
