5036. Stay pin leaks!! Anyone else?
« on: November 18, 2013, 08:27:53 PM »

Hello all. Have been reading a lot of posts and don't see very many pertaining to leaks. I am going into my 8th winter with my central boiler 5036. 2 winters ago had a leak around the rear left stay pin. Now the front left side stay pin developed a leak last weekend. Dealer arranged for welder last time and I paid the welder and submitted bill to central.  They mailed me a cheque within two weeks. Called dealer the other day and he said for me to arrange for the welder to come again. So I am just curious is this problem common?  My dealer told me the 5036 model was prone to them. I am concerned. The welder told me last time that he hates working on the centrals because the metal is thin in the firebox??  Was hoping this unit would last my family 20 plus years.  I maintain my water and use there expensive powders so wondering if anyone else experiencing this??

This will be my 8th winter.  End of my 6th season noticed small bulge on left side near the back of firebox. Then a month or so later a pin hole leak started right were the pin was bulging out. Now the front one on same side has done the same.  Repaired and dry now. Waiting on central boilers welder to come.

I hate saying it guys but I would stick with a round firebox. Trade those centrals for a ridgewood anyday.
