Title: anybody still burning
Post by: markc on April 07, 2010, 04:46:26 AM
im still burning although temps have been in 70-80 for almost 2 weeks ,i know its going to get cold again and have used 0 gas this year and want to keep it that way the gas co came to make sure my meter had not been tampered with ,weve been heating all our hot water and i had to turn the valves off to the furnace coil because weve used a/c last 2 days, but its easier to keep the boiler runing, im burning about 20 lbs of coal a day and havent servicedthe hopper for 15 days she just sits down there and idles plan on shutting down may 1  for the season

Still burning,as others have said, mostly for hot water.I have the bypass valves to keep the OWB hot water from going through the furnace HX and just going through the sidearm. But by the looks of the weather coming Thursday I may have to use some of the OWB hot water for heat.I will likely do as last year and burn till the first of June.

Burn year round, for some reason the hot water feels better heated by free wood(not counting 3 chain saws, gas, oil, bobcat, kubota, f350, oh chiropractor for the back, etc)

I'm still burning. I have some 5 year old wood that needs to be burned but I don't have to much left. My furnace has some black creosote on the walls now and I'm burning some really old oak wood.
I have a friend that has some pine that he wants to give me that is 2 years old to burn this summer. Will that really make my furnace a mess inside????  Or won't it be much worse??  I don't know if I want to think about cleaning it up after I'm finished burning the pine.
