Title: Navian NCB-240 condensing boiler for back up?
Post by: Smokeless on May 18, 2017, 07:29:00 PM
Looking for your thoughts on these wall hung units. The reviews do not look good for them. I have to tie into one that has the primary loop already existing.
I seen the Navian run. It came up to temp very fast. It was lp. 18-120,000 BTU. Has a small flat plate for the DHW. And CPVC for exhaust n intake. It's own circulator inside.

Is it a real primary loop that circulates constantly or does all the water in the loop flow through the heater?most guys who install them do not use injection from the boiler to the loop and use the zone circus to make the loop flow.

Yes on the injection into the header and yes on the zone circulators pulling the water by the header. So no way to divert the hot water from OWF ,up inside to heat the flat plate for DHW Im thinking it will have to run to make DHW ?

Or a separate small flat plate in the domestic line could be used and the heater shut off with a strap on aqua stat, you should be cautious as some on demand units are not modulating and could overheat.
