Title: LaGrange Steam and Power show
Post by: mlappin on August 16, 2017, 08:09:06 AM
Use one of these for a bit and you’ll never cuss your chainsaw again. Of course my wife said with this you take a lawn chair and a cooler to the woods, get it started on a cut then kick back and have a few adult beverages while waiting on it. Wonder why I married her?

Steam traction engine running a sawmill:

After watching this I think we’ll be sticking with no-till and with all the play in the steering my Trimble auto steer would never work on it:

Just keep in mind back in the day when that steam powered saw was invented that was the bees knees. He didn't have to break a sweat  lol

Actually the saw ran off a hit and miss engine.

My great grandfather was one of the bigger farmers in the area and did it all with horses, after he bought his first tractor he bought several more the next year and almost doubled his acreage. Back when electricity first came in the area they ran it only along the main highway, what used to be US31, him and a neighbor formed their own electric coop so they could get electricity to their farms quicker off the main highway.
