HeatMaster / Re: I have a MF-5000, how do I oil the fan?
« on: March 11, 2015, 10:30:21 AM »
what type of oil are you using?

google zoom spout oiler, (i have no idea how to put links on here or i would). But this is what my dealer gave me when he replaced my fan. And it may just be the older ones, mine is a 2010 model.

yea, I'm not doubting heatmaster, just curious to hear whole story, espeacially if he doesn't have a good dealer. Just like to know how it all shakes out for him.

I'm in my 5th season with my 5000, and love it. i heat 2100sq ft dhw, and my 30x40 shop. I work 12 hr shifts and easily have to 14-15 hours between fills. only issues ive had is fan quit on me 2 seasons ago (but i think that was my fault, i found out after the fact that i was supposed to oil it but wasnt) And only other issue was very first season pump had electrical short in it (dealer replaced pump right away)

General Outdoor Furnace Discussion / Re: Installing new door rope gasket

If you do put silicone on outside of gasket make sure and use wax paper as said or make sure and let silicone completly dry before shutting your door or it will pull your gasket back out next time you open it. I learned this the hard way :bash:

There is a hole at bottom and top of fan motor that should be oiled every 3 or so months. I didnt know this at first and burnt up my first fan after bout year and half or so. My dealer said he didnt know about oiling them at the time either. He brought me a oil bottle that had small extendable nozzle on it that fit into hole.

HeatMaster / Re: Door bearing

I'm in my 5th season. Doubt that that part would be under warranty, so was just curious if anyone else has had to replace them (only have 1 that has completely fell apart) and knew somewhere locally to get them. Sorry should have explained all that.

Other forums I follow have "stickies"at the top of thread that covers common questions. Something like that may work for these questions that are asked all the time.

My dealer has been good when I had a fan issue and had to pay him to come fix it but when I tried to get some water sample bottle he said he would bring them and 2 months later still haven't got them. I just got my sample results back (from the last sample bottle i had) and i need to add half a gallon of treatment. i don't want to wait who knows how long on him bringing me some when i could order it now and have it in couple days. Sometimes it is a day or so before i can get ahold of him. I would be more than happy to support him if he was supporting me as well.
