Ridgewoostove color choices
« on: February 11, 2014, 10:42:52 AM »

Has anyone went with different colors for there boilers other then green. My wife talked me into a dark tan color I'm glad she did.  It helps hide the smoke stains above the door. Oven cleaner works great for cleaning that stuff off.  Craig has a bunch of different colors you can get.

I special ordered a black one..... same situation as automan, it's what the wife wanted. I also installed a skirt around the bottom too.... an idea I stole from another Ridgewood owner. I would recommend the skirt to anyone with a Ridgewood sitting on concrete.

Just for aesthetics or is there a need?

A little of both. It does seal up the bottom to protect the exposed underground pex and it also keeps the -30° wind from blowing thru. Also makes it rodent proof if done right. And most important...... the wife likes the looks of it better, (now the truth comes out)

Chas, I did exactly what you did. I think it helps a bit also, It sure looks better. You must have found the same thing on the internet that I did. In the late fall when all the critters are scrambling that's when it's gonna pay off.
