The list price for that unit is $6,160.  http://www.centralboiler.com/models.php That means they are pricing the parts at $3, 640. Without knowing the situation that seems a bit high unless you have some unusual hookup. On a normal install using 125 ft of pipe I would normally charge $1,825 for parts and labor not including the ditch. Of course the piping I use isn't as good or as costly as what they normally do.

I just ordered a 5036 and my quote was $8550, but that was only 30' of Thermopex.  It did include everything else including two heat exchangers.  Also, it will be about $600 for the install.  I am digging the trench, pouring the slab, and providing the conduit for wire.

I also ordered the CL5036. Heres my breakdown costs:

Cl 5036 $6160
85' Thermo-pex @ 12.00/ft= $1020
Heat Exchanger $291
Taco pump $213
40' Pex pipe (to make connections to heat exchanger/CL 5036) - $64
Misc Fittings/Insulation for pipe at unit $50
Aquastat and thermo valve-$150
Chimney cap-$76
Power Cord for pump $5
Two Thermopex caps $40
Installation $750 (2 guys coming 70 miles away)
Shipping $ 210
Tax (6%) $540
Grand Total=$9569

Note on installation. I dug the trench and provided the power for the unit. I ran 12/2 wire inside 3/4 plastic pipe. Although not required, I poured the foundation. Also installed a water fill valve in the house. (Cost $180)

My son ordered a CL4030- In order to get both delievered and installed same day, I have to provide a "lifting device" to get the units off his trailer. His trailer can only handle lifting one unit, but he can haul two. (Something about placement on the trailer when hauling one) Cost to be determined. Edit- Cost was $165

Aquastat- I have forced air.  If my thermostat calls for heat it will turn on the fan only if water temp from boiler is at least 160F. If not, it will turn on the heatpump.
Thermo valve- If the water drops below 150F, it will recirc it back to the boiler.

We declined the $500 labor warranty. Unit will be filled and tested before he leaves site.

(Modified the Cost to show items I missed- Thanks MTJag) Final Cost remains the same.

Mofided April 25th- Added actual cost to lift OWB to pads and changed Aquastat and thermo valve temps.

Why would they have an additional cost for labor warranty?  Do they not guarantee the work they do or is this a labor warranty for the furnace itself.  If so isn't that covered by the warranty on the furnace?

yoderheating-

It would take a technician 3 hours round trip for a service call. Not including service time. $500 would cover unlimited amount of trips for one year. (Replacing parts and or fixing leaks on piping)

The warranty stands on all parts. This would just mean I would have to replace them. Since I'm pretty handy I told him I could handle the repairs, he can ship me the part.

Okay, I know different companies do it different ways. I do all service work for free so long as the parts are covered under the furnace warranty. On installation work I do a one year parts and labor warranty.
I think you will find that it is very unlikely anything will break in the first year anyway.  Also, most of the brands I have looked at make it fairly easy to replace parts. If you have a basic understanding of how to use a screwdriver and a wrench you can replace most of the parts.

You stole it??? :lmao

My only recommendation is not to skip on the underground pipe. With thermopex I only have a 1 degree loss on over 80 feet. Your in Wisconsin, so I know this will be important to you in the winter months.

Good luck with the install. We are all here to help you if you have questions.

Yeah I thought it was a good deal. I'm guesssing about $1500-2000 additional materials. And yes, thermopex will be used.
