Electronics / Blower timer
« on: December 19, 2016, 10:03:51 AM »
I have the Hardy H-2 and was wondering if I put a timer on the blower to cut off the fan after a set time and let it natural draft until it quits calling for heat would make it more efficient. What are you thoughts on this? What timer would I need to use for this?

Look at the quality of US made goods today. How many people have had issues with their OWB due to poor quality? The US quality for mass produced goods is no better than the overseas junk it just cost more. That is why the overseas market is as good as it is.

General Outdoor Furnace Discussion / 1 month report
« on: November 21, 2014, 07:50:45 PM »
I have had my Hardy H2 going for a month now. Has not gotten real cold yet! a few nights in the upper teens. House sits at 75* and unlimited hot water for the 6 of us. I love it so far. I have a few things I have questions about. Can I put a reducer on the stove pipe down to 4" to reduce wood usage. The thermostat for the house turns the blower on a lot are there thermostats that the on and off settings can be change? I am also looking at changing the aqua stat to a Ranco model sometime. I got the Maverick ET-732 to keep an eye on the temps with no load and a 100 ft run I get a 4* difference.

I got it working. I have a switch on the front of the furnace to switch from heat pump to furnace and had to have it on heat pump for the fan to work.

Electronics / T stat help
« on: October 20, 2014, 05:14:22 AM »
just installed hardy h2 tried to wire as it asked for with the relay to turn on pump on demand. When T stat kicked on it just hummed nothing happened. Then fan would not come on with either tstat. Now change wiring to red to red and jumped old green to new white. Still no fan at my furnace I have a switch for auto or on for the fan if I put it on on it runs if I put it on auto nothing. If I put either t stat on nothing happens.  The furnace was working after I hooked up the new stat but not after I tried to use it to run the fan. Thanks for any help with this.

I'm having a hard time picking a OWB. Care to help with the decision? I have a 2000 sq ft home with a crawl space and single story and will be heating DHW also. I have a down draft heat pump already installed in the house. I have decided on one of two different stoves. The Hardy H 2 and a Heatmaster 3000 or E model. I need a 12 ft from ground chimney height and It will be located 70' from the house. I live in south West ish Va. I have a Hardy dealer 10 min. from me and a Heatmaster dealer 45 min. from me. Thanks in advance for the help.
