Many wonder why all these tragic storms have taken place within the last 4-5yrs. I believe that God is very unhappy with the way our world has gotten. I hope you all stay safe.

Let's not throw religion into the forum.  The reason why there will be ice is because the storms will bring it. duh?   Anyway, I don't think we are supposed to get much ice here in central Illinois but I'm getting fuel for the generator just in case.

You know what??? There wasn't one thing wrong with what Victor just said. That's what's wrong with the good ole USA today. Those who take offense to religious comments will have more to worry about than the weather.           It's time for Christians to take a stand and not be pushed around anymore!!!!             STAND UP!!!!!

It's better just left alone.   I have the right to believe what I wish as does everyone else.   However, this isn't the place to be telling people what those beliefs are.  I'll tell you what the problem with our country is and that's assuming that everyone is a Christian.

Sorry this got off topic.   But I don't think this is the place for religious stories.

My bad.  Didn't mean to blow it out of proportion like that.  I was already fired up from a conversation I had with my co-workers lol.  Everyone is entitled to their own opinion.   So, how about that ice? Lol

Where I am in NH, it's still quite warm.  No icing yet.  The weather man says it'll happen later today as the colder temps sweep south.  Snow I don't mind, the ice can stay away.

Please be safe everyone, especially when operating a generator.

Merry Christmas to everyone on this forum.

Roger

We woke up to a foot plus of snow overnight, and its all yours now north and east of here (Kansas).  Now the work starts, hopefully the light and fluffy variety that the tractor does not have to work so hard to move around.  The biggest single storm event I can remember for a few years around here!

I am on the stlawerance river in northern ny we are expected to get 1-2 inches of ice today....so far its staying below us for the last day and half, all we really got so far is heavy sleet and snow mix.......I have the generator ready just incase...finally bought one....lol ..I can fire it up and plug it in.....I can atleast run boiler, pumps  and fan...so my house will stay worm and not freeze.....I have a wood stove in the house as well....but gen will keep my water flowing from boiler to house.....
so far no loss of power.... :)

Not too bad here, central maine.  Yet, Doppler is showing a break in the action, hope that all about a quarter inch I would say. Pine trees are weighed down but everything else is looking good. Still have power.

160,000 without power, me being one of them.  Genny running wood stove, furnace, fridge, and living room so I could watch the F-in Lions.  I did get out this morning with my dump truck and helped clear some roads.  Came home with a full load of oak, so my community service worked out!

We got hit pretty good. Lost about a third of the branches off our poplars. This pic is from this morning when the branches just started to fall. It's a mess out there now. It's gonna be grapple time for cleanup. This is one of the trees that plugged up my basement drain, yup Mr. Tree, karma is a bitcch.

Man that stinks watching the news this morning sounds like a lot of people are in the same boat you are in
Be carful

Hopefully you get it back on before Christmas Eve

All good here in Illinois where I'm at

I think the Chicago bears had ice on their finger tips last night.  Ouch

Boy is it a long 100ft walk to feed the boiler, slightly uphill, 1 step forward slide 30ft backward. Kids chiseled about 1 inch of ice of the walkway( had to bribe them). Bought some food for the deer, they didn't go to far when I started dumping.

the ash from your wood boiler gives great traction in the ice, take your boots off before going in the house or your wife may not be the happy little woman you know and love

No power here in central michigan since Saturday night.  Consumers Energy keeps pushing my restore date back.  Monday, then 11:30 Christmas night , and now Thursday night.  Gas for the gennie is killing me!  I still have to be thankful I have my burner and a gennie to run it all.  Trying hard to keep focused on that part, it could be a whole lot worse.

Merry Christmas y'all.

Well we gained power back last night so I left for the xmas party and turned the generator off. I get a txt from my neighbor 2hrs later we lost power again. I rush home only to find my lights are dimming and I measured 76 volts. I quickly shut everything off because I knew my motors and electronic are gonna be smoked possibly. I fire the generator up and go to the outdoor wood boiler and find a noisy slower moving pump, solonoid that wont open, aquastat that wont operate and a fan that smells burnt. What a great christmas with this thing.

man that stinks.  do you have enough spare parts to get back up and running?  Since the pump still runs, can you  temporarily convert to a natural draft stove.  I might be able to come up with my older version of the shaver manual that I think explains that and if it would help.  from what I remember reading, partially block the air intake and thru trial adjust the opening enough to keep it from over firing.

Changed the pump, blower, aquastat and solonoid just a little bit ago. I was able to do all this labor running on 1 apple and 2 budweisers and 0 lunch.

Good to hear you are up and running again.  News still says a bunch of you are still out of power in the NE, so good to hear you at least have heat again!

Probably good you had the Budweiser, might not have made it thru the project with Bud Lite! :D
