Completely missed it, thanks! I added a flue extension down into my firebox this year. I believe it helped but it has been a VERY cold winter and am on track to burn what I did last year( 12 cords or so).
How did you do your stack in the fire box? I have tried that a time or two but have not got nothing to last very long yet. Or have you talked about it and I just over looked it?

One wire goes to one leg of the plug cord the other to one of two legs coming out of the aqua stat.  That's right if it is hooked up backwards it will run backwards.

Dont know if float switch can be got any where but at dealer. Blowers can be found aftermarket but be carefull I bought an aftermarket blower for my stove last fall it looked the same, fit the same, and work but it is a smaller CFU blower than the one that came with the stove it just has to run longer to get the stove up to temp. (I dont know if that hurts or henders anything).
I dont worry to much about the build up inside the stove since when it gets good an cold my stove pretty much burns itself clean. I burn my stove year round for DHW use so in the summer it gets pretty crusty inside. I do keep a small putty knife out there by the stove and clean the door gasket and the edge that meets the gasket clean so I keep a good seal.
The door getting hard to shut was fixed on mine by replaceing the door gasket if smoke is coming out the door Im gonna bet the gasket is hard like mine was.
The ash build up in the back of the stove I dont have that problem the blower keeps a nice little clean spot back there on my stove but in normal use I add wood morning and night and at the time I add wood I also open ash door and run my fire poker in the ashes to keep them away from grates and if its starting to get pretty full of ashes I use the poker to pull ashes away from blower entry hole.
Takeing care of the blower, all I do is 4 drops of oil in oil port 2 times a year check fan blades for build up, and keep holes in blower door clean.

Found it! It was very hard to find with blower on the stove since my water lines are right in the way but I found it on my old blower motor and then I knew where to look on the new blower on the stove. The oil ports are very small on the side of the motor itself not the fan, one at the top and one at the bottom but they are very small holes no marks of any kind, but there is now. When I found them I oiled my old blower, turned it on and got it running (that was the reason it was replaced it wouldnt start on it own but with help would run). I let it run about 15 min then oiled again, let run another 30min, oiled again and let run about an hour turned it off and its been setting about a month now. I was working in the shop a few days ago and pluged it in and it took right off so I guess I have a backup!

I run my stove year round so I am gonna oil mine twice a year a few drops twice a year just makes me feel better.

I will try to get pics of oil ports to share, but bare with me as I try this since Im not much of a computer man.

Equipment / Re: Small Limb Saw Suggestions
« on: December 21, 2012, 06:39:30 AM »
The only thing that makes the 200T and the 192T such a danger is the user. Most of the time it comes back to the user not having proper chain on saw or not using both hands to run and hold the saw like it was intended to be used. I agree that both saws are intended for pro use, and the top handle does promote one handed use even though (per Sthil) its never suppose to be used that way. Any saw can be a danger if not used properly. You can also get either of those saws with rear handle and be safer than top handle since its not tempting you to try to reach way over or up with one hand on the saw to make that one or two cuts.

MS 260 or MS 200T would be my first picks. But they are very pricey saws if you want to save some cash try a MS 250 its not a pro seires saw like the 260 & 200T but for the money you can not beat the power to weight ratio of the 250. I have all three and I cut wood with my 61 year old uncle and he always had the 250 in his hands until I just got my 200T now he says that those are his and I can use all the big saws  ::).

Hardy / WHERE TO OIL BLOWER MOTOR
« on: December 12, 2012, 06:38:15 AM »
So I bought my H-2 July 2011 had it up and running October 1st 2011 and I ran it non stop ever since I liked the $30.00 savings not using water heater. But my blower quit October 26th 2012 it only lasted a year >:(. The book said to oil blower at the first of the heating season and I had not oiled it yet  :bash: so I just replaced it and went on with life. I wrote the blower going out as kinda my fault since alot of days in the summer I would return home to find fire out and blower running  :bash: until I figured out the proper loading of wood to prevent fire going out. So my question is since the book is not clear at all on this where do I oil the blower motor at? And if I run it year round do I need to oil it twice, three, or four times a year? Thanks in advance for the info.

General Outdoor Furnace Discussion / Re: age
« on: December 05, 2012, 06:56:54 AM »
I'm 28. This is my 2nd season with my OWB. But I guess for 28 years of my life I never remember not having wood heat. After living with it all my life its just life to me I've never known anything else. I remember before my grandpa passed away, him my uncle (dad to me) and myself all went to the woods together it was times like that in life I wouldnt trade for anything. But as grandpa got older he couldnt do as much but I was getting older and could help more. Now my uncle is getting to the age that he can still do it but he needs to pace himself and stop and rest some but the 12 year old grand son is getting to the point where he can help more. So as far as how long I'm gonna burn wood untill I die if I've taught my kids what I was taught.

Fire Wood / Re: Please tell me its not just me!

I like my wood pile to look good as well, Most all my cuts are 22"-24" but if some end up a little short of that they come home as well. As for the limb cut off's and crotch piece's they come home as well if they are no good for stacking they go in a pile behind wood pile (out of sight) then they go to stove first and the good looking stacks stay good looking stacks even longer.

Electronics / Re: Electric cost question?
« on: August 11, 2012, 01:12:44 PM »
My electric bill before OWB for winter was $250 to $400 a month depending on how cold it was.
Last winter with OWB in use highest bill $145. It cut $35 off the bill when I turned hot water heater off and used hot water from my OWB.

General Discussion / Re: The wife let me buy a new toy today!

Well it was real nice to use a new mower all the time that was loaded to the max with every option on it, But it was some weeks I could not get my hands on a mower because they were out on demo and my yard would get like a foot tall before I could get one home and mow. Plus I had to pull a trailer 2 days a week just to get the mower home and back to work and then the trailer back home. Plus I think it will be nice to mow when I wan't to or have time, not when I get my hands on a mower stop everything to mow now.

« on: March 16, 2012, 04:58:51 PM »
Well I have been working at a lawn equiptment shop for about 4 years now and I have been using the shops demo mower to mow my yard ever since. We had a 2011 mower that we had not sold yet and the boss told me to discount the crap out of it because we need room for the 2012s. So we got to talking and he shot me a price I could not beleave :o so I am the proud new owner of a new Grasshopper 727K 61in ;D. I just hope the wife don't make me PAY for this :bash: :bash:!
