I live in Tennessee, looking at the long term forecast temps are looking pretty mild for March. It's got me thinking about shutting down in a week or so.

I made a adaptor for lack of a better term that opens my draft door wider, I have a 5ft stack on top. My 10 degree recovery time is 15 to 20 minutes.

I keep my fire close to the door, mixing dry and semi seasoned wood. Very little creosote in the draft door. Original solenoid, second year.

We are on our second year with our stove, with only a few minor issues. Tim was the only person I ever spoke with at RW. He always answered his phone or called me back same day.

I hate to see any start up go out of business for any reason. I am guessing our warranty will go away when they close.

It was 65 here Sunday, lows in the 40's. I am putting smaller, 2 year dry wood. So far so good.

I will not be complaining about warmer weather.

General Outdoor Furnace Discussion / Ever miss a inside fire?
« on: February 18, 2015, 07:07:17 AM »
This is our first with a OWB, we have a Buck insert we used for years. So far I like the OWB, mostly because all the mess is outside. The last few days here in Tennessee we have had some snow and ice. Kinda missing the roaring fire in the house.

So do you ever miss the inside fire?

Hello All,

I live in the South so naturally wood usage around these parts is a lot less that you guys up North. When I was burning inside I would need 10 -12 ric for the year. This is my first year with an OWB so the jury is still out on my usage.

I read post where people talk about using 20 cords a year. That just blows my mind. I can not imagine the time/ labor it takes just to get one years of wood together.

I work on my stash as I have time in the evenings and weekends and it keeps me busy.  I really don't think that I could do 20 cords in a year.  How do you do it?????
