Similar issue for me last year. I had buildup in the air tube downstream of the solenoid.  Removed the elbow and solenoid and cleaned it out .  Worked just fine again.

Have some stacked.  Need to put more up.  Plenty around but tough to cut when 95 with 70% humidity!

Equipment / Re: Predator Engines
« on: March 01, 2016, 08:15:53 PM »
I had to replace the engine on my 30+ year old Huskee splitter last year.  Had an old Briggs and did a great job for all those years.  Countless cords.  Just wasn't economical to fix.  I needed an engine fast and did a little research.  A friend races go carts with Predator engines and he suggested it.  Turns out it was a bolt in replacement for the Briggs.  Got it for 100 bucks after all was done.  Apparently they are Honda knock offs.  I'm not a big fan of Keeping China in business, but if the quality is reasonable I'll buy it.    I did read that the original manufacturer of Honda clones was sues for patent infringement.....they subsequently changed some things to get around it.  So far in a year or more it's been good. Quieter too.  The only thing I don't like is the new style tank that has vapor space and will leak if you fill it above the tab in the filler hole.  Doesn't affect run time....but if I see a tank, I wanna top it off.   Maybe I'll seal it one day to get around that!

As far as harbor freight I bought a 80 gal 7 HP compressor and it has American Made components. Oddly enough, the pressure reliev valve failed and a start capacitor crapped out.  Easy enough to fix, and the thing is a beast.  I think some decent deals are found there.

My temps are consistent with you generally.  My ash is finer though.

I have a 1450 and clean the reaction chamber every few weeks so far this season.  I have been getting a fair amount of ash this year but I expect it since I have some crappy wood going in at times.  Mostly it's fine ash but sometimes there are a few larger coal pieces.  Every 3 days seems a bit much.  I have noticed that I make a lot more ash when it's not working as hard..... Like on warmer days.  Your temps are consistent with mine. This is my third season so far.  Pull your charge tube and make sure it's clear.  The quantity of ash seem a bit high.  I'm wondering if it's because of the mild temps.  Have you tried not cleaning every 3 days and see what happens? Also, at the front of the reaction chamber I have notice an ash dam that maybe blocks air/ash flow and maybe causes premature build up in the chamber.  I clean my exchanger tubes randomly.....maybe monthly.

Central Boiler / Re: New E1450 with WIFI module
« on: January 04, 2016, 06:08:28 PM »
The short answer is maybe.  I have caught it right at fire out and there were plenty of coals on the sides....just none in the reaction chamber..... Add wood and walk away.    I have arrived way late after it called fire out and had to add some paper and kindling to coax it back.  Ultimately it depends on how soon you catch it.... And the dryness of the woof.

When my fire goes out (rarely). And usually because of a brain fart.... I have had very little trouble relighting.  Even with a few embers, a couple pieces of paper and/or some dry kindling and she's up and running pretty quickly.  That said, it does take a bit of time to get a good bed established..... But I'm not always using the best coaling wood.  I should have gotten the propane option and probably would have but my local dealer was a douche.

No major injuries so far.  Just finally fired up last night.  I have banged a few fingers.   Definitely a hair cut or two!
