General Outdoor Furnace Discussion / Re: Missing Material On Inside Door

I wouldn't worry about it. It's not in the hottest part. Keep an eye on it.

I've seen those sharkbites drip when shutting down too. Good call on swapping them out.

Central Boiler / Re: Selling my house

You're right on both the cold reputation and the improvements over the years. I've hooked up to a lot of mobile homes that were quite chilly til we got a boiler involved.

Sorry to hear that Roger.
But I'd agree, call CB or the dealer.
Are you thinking of getting one installed at your new house?

Central Boiler / Re: Crazy - magic heat?

3 degrees doesn't seem like much, could be a warm spot in the tank moved a bit. Depending on your flow through the tank it can vary quite a bit if stratification is going on.

Central Boiler / Re: Thermostatic valve questions.

If it's a loop the flow rate will be the same throughout the loop. Unless there's a way it can bypass. Weird.

I'd need some pictures to completely understand what you have going on. I'm assuming you're forcing it to bypass through the thermo valve? It may not be an issue.

Can you let it cool off a bit? Any submersible utility pump should work fine. Ebay, Amazon, etc.

If you're shipping USPS use a flat rate envelope to put your bottle in. Way cheaper.

Can I hire you as a spokesperson?
I can't count how many times I've gotten that call on a Saturday night. 2 hours away, no spare parts, can you please come quick.

Plumbing / Re: Wilo pumps
« on: January 05, 2021, 02:30:29 AM »
Maybe this was mentioned earlier-
Where we had failures with the Wilo pumps is the 3 speed selector would break off internally. Otherwise I think they were ok.
So they might work fine now, but my Grundfos and B&G pumps keep on running so why change?
You get loyal when you don't have service calls for a while.
I think it's a Ford / Chevy /Dodge thing.
I do the regular Taco are not well suited to the grit and trash in an OWB.

I haven't used wilo since we got a few about 10 years ago and they mostly failed.
I'm using Grundfos now. And quite a few B&G. Theyve been great for years.

Plumbing / Re: Brass fittings
« on: December 28, 2020, 04:17:36 AM »
Were these fittings on the domestic side or boiler side?
I saw a HeatMaster unit with various fittings honeycombed thin recently. Turns out they were using some odd powdered water treatment. I think electrolysis was doing its thing.
