Anybody ever burn old telephone poles? Got couple left by the power company should I burn them or not?

I wouldn't, full of creosote. They do burn hot though  ;)

Highly illegal and part of the reason everyone wants to ban outdoor boilers due to the fact that some think its a good place to burn garbage.

Don't do it. Lay them out of the way somewhere.....they'll last for years. Someday you'll have a project that you'll use them for. They are great for small bridges.

I have been a power lineman for 35 yrs  I wouldn't recommend it it unless there white cedar butts are treated top are not  generally all others have some kind of treatment  if there green definitely not (cca) some arsenic in older ones never have burnt any never will just my opinion!

Dispatcher here for a power company in sc were worried about load issues for the next 24 to 48 hrs.

I def don't recommend throwing in the boiler...I save them for a future project..or throw them on CraigsList..You could make a few bucks on them..If nothing else works....Bon fire works..

I work second shift 2pm to 12am Monday through Thursday. We ended up doing OK had some trouble from the wind that pushed the front through last night. Got home around 1 am and filled the boiler up
House was running at 68 nice and warm.

Back in the day got a few busted up cedar power poles, from power company - cut about 9-12" blocks and save for kindling (splits wonderfully and an 8' stick broken down yeilds hella TON of kindling)

Nice, our dispatchers/ trouble shooters run 12's . I was a trouble shooter for past ten years working through a dispatcher. I just went back to the crews a few months ago.

I just came off 13.5 hr shift sat sun and mon. Well i didnt have a choice low end of the pole some one picked that shift and I got stuck with this. The wife and son are not thrilled but so is goes life at the power company. I do enjoy getting to go to church. What company do you work for Dawnpatrol?
