This is the wood shed we built this past summer.
-
NICE JOB RON! Any plans on enclosing the sides? I live on a hill, with LOTS OF WIND. If mine were open, I would never keep the wood dry. I placed pallets on the ground inside my shed to stack the wood on. The air can pass under the wood to aid in drying time.
How much wood does the shed hold?? Does it take care of an entire winter's use?? I've used about 6 cords so far this winter. I hope the last 1.5 cords hold me through the rest of the heating season. The weather should start warming soon, so I'm hoping it will last,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,

It worked well the way that it is.Had very little rain or snow to get onto the wood.It is so much better than the tarps we used the first two years. It is 10X20 and had about 11 cords in it this year, but if we stuffed it full it may hold 12 1/2 to 13.The last two years we used between 6 and 7 cords per year. This year maybe a little more.I worked for a precast concrete co. and was able to find some unused panels for both under the stove and the wood shed.

Great pics, and nice set-up!!!

well............ I was gettin ready to start a thread on wood sheds........... I've had this debate with myself for a while, trying to decide whether to build a wood shed and put the boiler inside of it, so I won't be trompin in the dirt/mud... Or put it outside on the pad, gravel back to the shed and go from there.
Debating the size of the shed too! I don't know what to get, I was thinking like a 16X30, but that may be to big?!
-
Go big, bigger is better.Even if you don't use it all, it will all be nice and dry when you do need it.I thought 10X20 was big enough, but I wish that I had made it larger.
-
heck guys, if you are gonna build a shed to hold your wood..whats another few bucks....put the stove under the cover also..you won't be sorry
-
Great looking shed RW! How much higher is your chimney than the picture shows? I am looking for ideas to extend mine. I live down the road from you outside of Brewster.
-
I have (1) four foot section and (1) two foot section added to the original pipe that came out of the stove.
This picture shows it better.Lawrence Twp. has a new regulation on OWB's and this will meet the new regulations.
-
Um, how do you get the bucket up there?
-
I read the Independent on a regular basis, but haven't heard Lawrence Twp. was adding any restrictions. What did they come up with? I hate to see restrictions for everyone when just a few cause problems.
-
I use the loader bucket of the back hoe to put it on and to take it off. Also do the same thing to check and make sure it is clean. No the loader doesn't put on or take the bucket off, I stand in the loader bucket to do it.
-
I pulled up Lawrence Twp. Zoning, but I couldn't get anything to come up. I was at the Twp. office on another zoning issue when I was told about the OWB regulations. They are not to bad,but you do need a permit to install one now. When I get a copy I will share it with you.

In Sugarcreek where I am, there is no zoning. I called the Building Dept. and they said they don't care about them, I could do whatever I wanted to with it. No permits of any kind needed.
-
I go to Sugarcreek on long weekends sometimes. It's not all that far from me. So much cool stuff there. Heinie's Cheese, Lehman's, and that Amish wagon ride where you feed the animals off the sides of the wagon come to mind...
-
DDog,
Do you follow Fairless boy's basketball, and if you do,are you going to the Fieldhouse on Monday night? If so maybe we could meet up.

Jason,
If and when you come this way again,it is not far out of the way for us to go any place in Amish country.Maybe you and DDog and myself could get together. We ride 4Wheelers to Amish country all the time in the summer,so I know a lot about the area.

Sounds like a good time. I'll keep that in mind. We're about due for another Lehman's trip.
-
I actually live in Sugarcreek Twp. Lehman hardware is about a 15 min. trip.
RW, I haven't followed Fairless sports yet. I have two little girls that aren't in school and just moved to Fairless district 3 yrs. ago. That would be nice to meet up sometime and compare notes.
