I will agree they don't care if we buy less, because No matter how efficient we become big energy just raises the price. They produce less and charge more, keeping profit right where they want it. The EPA has us meeting exhaust emission requirements, but our cars even hybrids still do not get close to the mileage they could get, and who receives the carbon credits for all those efficient autos? We get a crappy little tax credit. A stand alone solar system takes close to fifteen years to pay for itself and most cannot afford it. A majority of the solar farms are being built by big energy to replace costly power plants. Imagine free energy from the sun, clean energy credits, Low labor costs, and no costly infrastructure. It's no wonder why they have so much money to lobby with.

Be serious. These corporations are our enemy(or employer). We pay taxes so they won't have to. The energy industry owns our politicians and you the consumer. This world is dependant. How many live completely off grid? Not enough, and thats what they count on.  I'm sticking it to my propane company and keeping it in my wallet while skipping the fuel taxes. When they want money they just raise the price like the last five years profit level shows. We all need to do more to escape their grasp.

How many large fuel producers are also lobbying the EPA to shut down OWB's? Losses in fuel sales is huge, not to mention fuel tax losses.   Money talks

I agree 180-190. The forced hot water baseboards seem to work better for me above 180.

Never had a fan on my 5036, also never got lower then-15. Might smoke more, and recover slower, but should work fine without the fan.

I run the same water with no exchangers in an open system, the pressure for the indoor boiler is created by restricting the(return valve) flow being forced by the taco 009 pushing water from the outdoor boiler thru the inside furnace. The return valve is after the inside boiler and when it is open all the way i have no pressure at the inside boiler. I restrict it until I have 12psi inside.  I use corrosion inhibiter and the water is always nice and clear. So far the taco 009 has lasted almost five years providing 12psi to the inside boiler while running 24/7. Happy that I never spent the money on exchangers. Also happy I put inhibiter thru my indoor furnace as the original water was from my well unfiltered, and full of iron. So far all works great.

Sanbornton NH. In the lakes region. Don't get off Exit 22 on I93 after 8 pm if you need gas, and never believe the GPS shortest route in this area.
Tilton dont have 24 hr pumps?
Oh yeah, but Tilton is exit 20. Exit 22 only has the Sanbornton country store that closes at 8 P.M.

Yes airforcepol, have to agree with pitcrew, praise to you to admit fault for such an error in logic. Hope Scott7m can forgive you for the brusing, hearing loss, pain & suffering, PTSD, and soiled undergarments. Next question, Scott7m have you fully recovered?(hopefully)!!!  Does that void the warranty on the boiler? Certainly a maximum pressure test.  Nearly a 911 call.  Reminds me of my High school buddy who was trying to light a pilot on a gas stove in a mobile home. Took too long and blew himself on his ass. The pressure blew the door open and cracked windows, wow that hurt our ears. Igniting flammables in an enclosed area= bomb.

I call it chimney cleaning. Good point, It would be nice to recover that heat.

Informed the propane delivery guy today, that he need not return until fall thanks. It will be in the - temps for the next few nights here in NH. Fifth season with the CB5036 and I do not miss the sound of my propane furnace.     I also do not miss the bill.

I asked the dealer if I should get a fan setup on my CB5036 His reply was, "only if you want to burn more wood". I can get a nice intentional chimney fire (cleanout), or boil over with the door open too long. Otherwise the natural draft of 16' of chimney works great. Only during warm temps with too much wood in the firebox have I thought a fan would be useful. I guess it depends on design and need of recovery time.

Bigger is almost always better. Do not undersize. Spend the money to save the aggrivation. You will not regret the decision in the long run. You will not be happy when it hits -15 and your boiler is tapped out.

Like Fireboss said. I have only cleaned my 16ft stack in 4 years with fire. seems to work really good. I usually wait until the ground is wet. Let the water temp drop, build a roaring fire, and watch the chimney turn into a torch. You will see the creosote embers flying out, do not let them land on you, or your woodpile, or your house !!!!
