General Outdoor Furnace Discussion / boil-over
« on: December 28, 2012, 09:11:03 AM »
Had my NC 325G overheat last night.  Lost about 20 gallons and can't seem to find where the air is entering the firebox.  We re-tighten the door.  Any other ideas?

Curious as to the average age of OWB owners.  I'm 51 and starting to think about how long I'll be able to feed the machine! 70 yrs old?

General Outdoor Furnace Discussion / pex expansion
« on: November 21, 2012, 05:33:42 PM »
How do you guys deal with expansion of pex in your basements?  I have over 2ft of expansion over approx 30 ft. of pex line in my basement going to heat exchanger.  The total line in 260ft.  My original set up leaked on start up this year and I made some modifications and they seem to be working.

General Outdoor Furnace Discussion / chunks blowing out the chimney
« on: February 29, 2012, 10:51:48 AM »
I'm seeing 1/8 to 1/4" pieces of what I imagine is dried creosote on my owb roof from time to time.  Is it just creosote blowing out when the boiler fires up?  Is it a problem?

General Outdoor Furnace Discussion / How hot could I get my house
« on: February 15, 2012, 05:01:55 PM »
Just started using a NC 325G and so far so good.  Mild temps (mid 40's day, 34 night), but with a 250ft distance, house to owb, I am pleased with the 74+ degrees in my 6500 sq. ft. house.  I'm ready to hook up the outbuilding after 1 day!

Right now my house is a balmy 74: just for kicks.  I love not hearing my old oil furnace.  This is good stuff!
