Did Heatmaster change their design recently?  Some of the websites I have looked at mention a secondary air injection in the 5000e but mine doesn't have that.  It's a 2013 model.  Just curious....

They had the secondary air channel in the early "E" models.  They had some issues with them and they stopped including them.  Then, they got it worked out and they offer the it as an aftermarket retrofit.  I bought my stove in 2013 and it was a 2012 manufacture date.  It didn't come with the second flow, but Scott is going to get me a price on one.  I think Kybaseball did the retrofit on his.  Someone on this forum has, I just can't quite remember who.

Thanks for the info.  I would be curious to see if it makes a difference in performance or not.  I guess it would depend on how much the kit costs in regards to if it would be worth the extra money or not.

I did put it in but took it back out. All it was a 2 inch square tubing about 2 foot long with a 90 degree on it and bolted down in the back of the stove where the grate begins. It using some of the air coming into the pan area and moves it up to flow across the top. I don't think it was enough air to help at all and it kinda gets in the way. Hope this helps out. I could take a picture if anybody wants to see what it looks like.

Thanks for the info! I'll take your word for it.  From the way everyone talks, heatmaster's are pretty good on wood as it is anyway.  I'll see how it does without it first.

That is crazy!! I have enough square tubing seating around that i could make 10 of these at that price. I will go get a picture of it today and post it so you can see what it really looks like. But I don't think there is a need for it. How have you been doing countryboyjohn? Have you got plenty of wood for season coming up?

I'm all set.  I have about 14 cord ready to go!!  I think I have twice the BTU in my pile than last year.  Hedge, cherry, white oak, white ash, red oak.  The good stuff!!  I also have the lumpy black "wood" in my shed too!  About 3/4 of a ton!

Yea I like throw a few of that black lump wood in there to help them burn times when it gets good and cold. We have been really lucky and have enough wood for the next 2 years. The thing is that I have had a guy bring it to me and all we do is cut it up and split. Don't get any better than that.

damn they made u guys pay $300 for that! i called heatmasters and they sent it to me for free all i had to do was pay the freight not sure if im going to install it as you got to grind off the welds in the back of your stove for it to slide in

I didn't have to pay anything for it. They asked for serial number and said they would get it right out to me. I didn't have to any grinding it went right in. But I took it back out cause it gets in the way I think.

There was a window of time when the secondary air part wasn't working properly.  So, they pulled it from production.  After they fixed the issue, they went back to the owners of the stoves that either had them or were supposed to have them and sent them a free retrofit kit.  After those customers were taken care of, I believe they went to charging for them because they aren't a "standard" piece of equipment for the "E" stoves anymore.
