Ball valve
« on: January 02, 2014, 05:13:33 PM »

Has anyone ever had an issue with a leaky ball valve at the handle? I know to tighten the pack nut but the one I have leaking doesn't have one. Any thoughts?

That's about the only way to stop it from leaking tighten the packing nut if it's not there you may have to replace   Or you can do it the cheap way and dump some table salt on it you may get lucky and corrode up and stop maybe

Make sure its rated for decent psi. Some china made ones are known to be rated for .5 psi!

I've got a new one ready to swap but it's -10 and the  valve is unfortunately the one ahead of my pump so I'll have to drain down to swap it

The legends don't have them packing nuts, and there's no fix. Don't think I've ever had one leak in 20 some years. If its a legend. I don't buy ball valves at the big box for this reason, those American valve brand are junk. Always leaking or the Teflon seal inside will be cut. Checkem on the shelf before you buy. Apollo is good but more coin.
Hint isolation flanges.....hahahahah

The new one I got is a nice apollo, but in regards to the isolation flanges - this is the ball valve to isolate the pump that is leaking, so unfortunately I don't have an isolation valve for the isolation valve haha.

Oh come on it's only money, why wouldn't you have an isolation valve for your isolation valve?
